I guess we’ll see how under powered when Thunder! comes a knocking… If the damn thing would just go to the next turn already that’d be great.

I just made contact with my first player in Lictor. It’s going to be interesting…

Hey guys,

Does anyone mind if I hand over my empires in Shirley and Bandar to Steve Clark? Because I’ve been snowed under with other stuff, I’ve been holding up Shirley, and I keep staling turns in Bandar.

I don’t see that letting up over the next few weeks, so Steve volunteered to take in my poor orphaned nations. If no one objects, he’ll be Shirely’s Tien Chi and Bandar’s Rlyeh.

I can’t imagine that anyone will mind, Tom. Do you think that Steve will be less likely than you were to not EAT the messengers I send him and instead return them to me with tidings? :)

I mind, but then I was about to launch an underwater offensive in Bandar so I guess I’m a biased party. I was really enjoying the static Rlyeh, but all good things come to an end

I guess I was figuring objections would be based on the fact that you guys are much more likely to get your butts handed to you by Steve than by me. Okay, I’ll hand over the details to him now.

-Tom

Yeah, sure, if I had 60 giants. Of course, that’s 3000 gold worth of giants, about 2500 more than I had at the time. War when we both had zip for armies would just be a way to throw away every unit each of us had, without much affect.

I’m puzzled, where did all your money go then? That army of yours spent like 6 turns steamrolling me, taking all my provinces, razing temples, etc. That’s 6 turns you had to assemble the follow up force. Your empire had to have at least a 500-600 gp income, you had multiple provinces, so over 6 turns that’s the 3000 we were discussing. Your follow up force should have been ready to be unleashed just as my last stand finally broke your original force, or at least that’s what I would have done in your shoes. Typically when I do early game offensives I never assume the initial force is overwhelming but I keep it attacking to keep the enemy distracted and busy while the real steamroller force is being built.

Were you sinking all your deniro into mages because you were sure the army you had in the field was unbeatable? Come to think of it, all the evidence you had right up until that last battle was that I couldn’t dent that army, so I guess that’s not too far fetched an idea :)

Version 1.0.0.8 of the Dom3 Tool is up, this one includes the launcher capability.

There’s a couple of quirks. You can only add the path to the executable once you’re connected - this is to prevent adding of executables to non-working servers.

Also, you need to specify an executable PER server - this is to enable those folks who are playing different game versions on different servers from a single machine.

Hopefully the fact that the buttons go inactive when … well, inactive … will help make things clear. It’s really not that hard:

  1. Select “NEW” from the dropdown to add a new server.
  2. Type in server info, server URL (or IP) + port as before.
  3. Hit “Get Status” as before.
  4. Once connected, hit “Browse for executable” and navigate to your dom3 exec file.
  5. Hit “Disconnect”. The “Launch” button should light up.

You only have to set servers up ONCE.

Once you have all of your servers configured, simply select what you want from the dropdown and hit Launch.

Please PM or email me the bugs, as traffic in here is pretty zippy, I might miss what you have to say :) As always, disclaimers as to the software melting your face etc. apply (I’ve tested it plenty though).

Works perfect for me. You just made my desktop a very happy place.

Dawn of Dominions:

From Yngvar Mavernibane, Prophet of Sven Vanson,

Today at the first light of Morning we got a messenger from our soon to be former ally ulm… He told us that in three turns there will be war.

So we have two turns left to destroy the fighting spirit of those maverni, but alas they are allready running to their capitol hiding behind thick walls against the sea wolves from the north. That is no way to fight a war waiting before the walls that the so called men behind the walls come out… But it is good fun to burn and pillage their former provinces.

Hohoho how short they live but how bright they burn has a whole new meaning…

AT least those ulmish have the guts to tell us that there will be a bloodfeud… perhaps they even fight better than the cow from the south, one can only hope…

Wait for new news that will be brought to you in the skulls of our enemies…

Would you like to know how close you were to breaching the wall at Eponi Plains before your inexplicable retreat?

It was very, very close.

I don’t know why you’re giving me all this extra time to re-engineer my forces, but I assure you I will make good use of it.

My apologies for delaying Midoc. I forgot to check my email for a couple of days.

So that next time you can come out and play with the army not the Vorhut…

We retreated because of ulmish maidens that where running in our rear… I like to call it an advance to the north ;)

Pfft. What sort of men are these, that go running back home when women kick up a fuss?

And we’re not hiding. We’re just sitting in one place so that when you want to fight instead of dodging around in your illusions and sneakiness, you know where to find us. And in the meantime, it’s a good occasion for a feast.

But but that are ulmish women…

You know why we raid to the south no? Ever seen nordish women that are used to work and fish in the cold seas?

And we totally understand feasts we having them in your countryside… AND we dont sneak we only try to hide so that your armies dont run when they see us but stand and fight! ;)

I knew I shouldn’t have started reading this thread. Just put in my order. I’d like to get in on the next n00b game, whenever it starts.

ahh but see how it glitters said the spider to the fly…

5 turns of ~450 gold income = 2250. First, I had zero temples when I hit you, so I had to pump out a couple and buy 4 or 5 priests - that’s 1200 gold right there. And my army was taking your crappy death dominion wastelands, so I wasn’t gaining much in terms of income. Plus, one Goode + 5 giants = 450 gold. Subtract out temples + priests, a couple mages and a Goode, and I have maybe 15 giants left. They are great, just not enough against 250 undead, or not enough to make a run for your keep, breakdown the walls, and successfully seige it without constantly throwing every spare coin into replacements for losses. Then, if I actually won, I would have a total of 4 zero income provinces to show for it (plus your home gem income, which would be nice). Instead, I now have bigger armies, more mages, and an OK number of provinces.

I want to force host the Shirley turn sooooooooo baaaaaaaaaaaaaaad.
