Androphag: the tattered remnants of Helheim

Back home in Ulm there must be great feasts of celebration, to commemorate Crom’s victory over the Helhirdlings and Hangadrotts. But, my dear Ulmish peasantry and common soldier, that victory was a hollow one. Firstly, Helheim’s true strength was vanquished by Abysia - the armies of Ulm are mere opportunists. We do not understand why the mighty cyclops of Abysia has let Ulm reap the benefits of his hard labors. Secondly, and most importantly, the Ulmish folk deserve to know that their “god”, Crom, self-styled “Lord of War” did not last 30 seconds against a pair of simple Helhirdlings. Had Crom been vanquished by a mighty Hangadrott we might still hold his memory in honor. Surely the good people of Ulm will demand a new god now. Perhaps the Abysian cyclops…

Noone ever expects the giants!

P.S. Check your PMs.

I was so disgusted by Crom’s pathetic performance that I quit out of the battle. I was happy to win, but not like that, not like that…

Opportunist, or liberator? Wouldn’t you prefer your women to be married off to strapping young Ulmerians, rather than the Abysian devilmen?

Vengeance will be yours I suppose in Bandar. Beware the Argathan Hordes!!!

Don’t you realize that our women fight? You’d have seen them in action if only, er, well, if only they hadn’t been hiding by mistake. Oops.

Vengeance will be yours I suppose in Bandar. Beware the Argathan Hordes!!!

Nah, I keep games separate - whatever happens in Bandar will not make me feel either better or worse about my (very short) stay in Androphag.

Wait, YOU’RE Agartha? From hell’s heart, I stab at thee!

All I’ve ever done to you is poach a couple of outlying provinces. Its TC that’s killing your armies.

Oh, and I killed a bunch of your assassins - but they kinda, sorta came and asked for it :)

Androphag:

I feel a bit bad about not being able to finish off Helheim. The only problem is that you cleverly slipped your forces to cause major trouble behind my lines. So I had to regroup and didn’t want to fight you and 150+ plus Ulmish troops! But I was rooting for you and doing what I could to help you fight the Ulmish…

I’m sure I’ll quickly face the Ulmish juggernaut…

Ah, if only that were so. Unfortunately, I have enough flying assassins around to see the big picture here, and how Agartha is poised to engulf Abysia, Yomi, Sauromatia, and Niefelheim.

Tien Chi might be your brute force thug in this, but it’s obvious who’s pulling the strings.

Oh, and, uh, I kinda understand about the assassin thing. I mean, that’s what they do - they assass. ;p

That was basically…embarrasing. In the Squidz game, I am just about DEAD…

playing MP is MUCH different than playing vs the AI…learned a valuable lesson…hit fast, hit hard, and go down swinging.

I enjoyed my very first MP Dom game, though…

Oh yes, it’s a night and day difference betwen SP and MP. In MP the keys are paranoia, diplomacy, and aggression. Having a short range military plan coupled with a long range magical plan is a good thing too :)

Hmmm but it was a fine game, i was even worried in the starting phase when your armies sucked up everything i throw at them… but as i see now how small your country was i dont think that you could follow through the advantage.

The Tien Chi triads strike again…

Oh btw

Breaking News from the Consort Observer ™

The selfcalled almighty god Thunder! is standing before the gates of a jotun castle with his army. The army is a poor thing to behold, i call it the “Thin elephants army” as there are round about 20 elephants + various inf units and all of them are starving Oo. Disease is so widespread that the elephants have mostly a morale of “0”. I believe one hit would be enough to rout them all but alas the giants sended only a few lame ass PD to the fight.

And Thunder! has a mighty Weapon (a hunting knife OO) where the rest of them is almost with NO equipment…

So that has to be enough news for the day.

Listen next time for the voice of the imperial bureaucracy.

This news was brought to you by "Lu - xing lemon juice, the juice of your choice.

Agreed. Or even better - aggressive paranoia and diplomatic aggression. :)

In other words - you got to remember that the whole world is REALLY out there to get you. And you have to be diplomatic when you are planning your own aggression.

I would add to this -it certainly pays off to maintain honest reputation in your games. But some players have different opinion about it, as it became clear earlier in this thread. =) It works very well for me though.

Squidz:

“The selfcalled almighty god Thunder! is standing before the gates of a jotun castle with his army.” Why is Thunder working with Tien Chi who are clearly the most dangerous pretender? Strange doings!!

Gah…why is Thunder working with Tien Chi

This is very weird.

I just won a big battle against Giants as Midgard in Bomerlunder game. However the actual results of the battle are quite different from what can be seen in replay.

I’ve attacked with 5 Van commanders and supporting troops, 4 of them were in HOF. In battle replay the battle went exactly as I planed - I only lost a single commander and part of my army, while completely annihilating giants army. However the actual battle result said that I still won, but 3 out of 5 of my commanders were reported as killed (all 3 were in HOF). >:(

Before you ask:
No, I am not running and mods.
Yes, I have 3.01 patch installed.
No, none of my commanders were diseased.
No, Giants have used no fancy magic or items that could cause death outside the battle. (In fact the only attack magic that they used were smite from their prophet, and they had no magical items.)
No, none of my HOF commanders were attacked by Hunter of Heroes, or were targeted by any special events. Besides they were all reported as killed in battle.

I’ve watched replay 3 times already. On the last turn of battle all 4 of my commanders were safe and sound, and no enemy forces were left of the battlefield. How could my 3 HOF commanders died?!?

I haven’t heard about such bug in Dom3, but I remember such shit happening in Dom2 when server was running different OS from the client. (I am running Win XP) Still that bug was fixed ages ago.

At the end it was still an important victory for Midgard, but losing 3 carefully nurtured from the beginning of the game HOF commanders for no reason sucks royally. >;(((

<double post>

Well… I’m embarrassed to say that it seems Bommerlunder is still running under 3.0…

Sorry about that, minor administrative snafu. I will correct it immediately.

Any chance we could get another game going, cause Midoc is plenty slow at the moment

Hey, can we have a rule here not to spoil the bloody turn before it hosts??

I just got home, won’t have time to play tonight, but don’t appreciate having my battles spoiled…

Thanks.

Ah, that explains it.

I guess I will never learn how the hell my well protected air-shielded 3 HOF commanders managed to die, 3.0 or not. :( In my battle reply they were not even in real danger. Oh well.

Thanks for the quick response Soapyfrog.

Hope it wasnt some 3.0 related bug! Well… you could see the proper battle result I think, just load the turn in 3.0.
