You suck at RPG.
Seriously, though, I can’t imagine why low level Blood Mages are giving you a problem. Those guys can’t have much by way of hit points and armor. Are they much higher level than you? I presume you know the color coding of a unit’s name indicates its relative level.

make sure you turn on the “hold position” setting for your companions if you want to maintain tactical positions - very key to success.
What story/class are you? I’m a human warrior and breezing through the 360 version like it’s barely even there. A couple of my party members have gotten killed now and then, but I don’t think my character’s even come close.
I have run into an interesting bug where sometimes I’ll select an enemy to attack and my guy will just saunter off in a random direction, sometimes into an entirely different room.
So can shapeshifter mages cast in forms? seems like that specialization wouldn’t really play nice with much if they can’t. unless the arcane warrior bonuses work with it.

I’m playing a dwarf Warrior using 2 hander(which I totally think it’s inferior to dual wield), I went to deneram after the whole intro, and one of the side quest was tracking down some blood mages, I had alistair/Lileana/Morrigan, Morrigan doesn’t have any healing spells.
The quest basically ending up having you fighting 2 Yellow con warriors, 1 Boss Blood Mage and 1 yellow con Blood Mage, since the fight starts with a cutscene, so my entire group starting the fight stacked at the doorway, 2 fireballs later, half the group was dead, oh the Yellow con blood mage also heals.
the only reason I can see why I had so much trouble is because maybe my level was too low and not having a healer in the group.
After I picked up Wrynn, the game got much easier, though the whole damn Fade sequence was glitchy as fuck, stucked in combat in a few places for a looong time.
The guy playing on JustinTV is destroying everything, and he is playing on Nightmare difficulty. People say it is supposed to be harder on PC. Any confirmations?
Still undecided on which difficulty to start with.

Sounds like we’re at the time of the thread where those of us that don’t want to be spoiled need to leave the room for a few days.
:-)
sings
“I’m so glad we had this time together, just to have a laugh or sing a song, seems we just get started and before you know it, comes the time we have to say, ‘So long.’”
tugs ear and shouts
“Good night, everybody.”
Okay, who’s going to start the spoiler thread?
How are you guys getting your games already? Thought the release date was November 3rd.
WTF? First of all, this is spoiler stuff. Second of all, WTF? I’ve been through exactly the parts you’re talking about and didn’t experience any of the problems you’re mentioning. “Glitchy as fuck”? What does that even mean?
Thirdly, spoilers. Jerk.

Now that people are playing it, how does it run on older/lower end machines?
I’ve had this set up for years:
AMD 64 dual 4200+ 2.21ghz
2gigs of ram
GeForce7900GTX
If you have a similar setup I’d be curious to hear how it runs. I can never seem to trust Minimum System Requirements.
Most stuff runs okay (FallOut3/Oblivion, STALKER, are probably the most taxing games I play without a hitch), but more and more programs are starting to run poorly:
Certain zones in The Witcher
Parts of NWN2
Rise of Legends
BioShock
Demigod on anything but low/med settings
That PC would probably be ok with a nicer graphics card in it.
I don’t suppose a kind soul is willing to gift me this game through steam and I’ll pay via Paypal or something? Stupid region locks…
Wouldn’t the unlock still key to your IP address?
I suspect that you’d need to fake your IP address if you really are desperate to avoid the region unlocks.
Does Steam still check your region when you log in, however? I think if you go to the US Amazon page they will ship it internationally.
No, it only checks the person who’s buying the game and not the person receiving the gift so it works w/o a hitch (at least, the last few times I’ve done this)
It’s very possible to set up a Tor server and have it listen to this sort of traffic. Here’s an article on the Tor blog that goes into more details (and even further reading is available in the comments).
Well, the steam preload started. Anyone know if steam sent out pre-order emails?

Is anyone else still debating canceling an order for a physical copy to get it on Steam instead? I keep looking at my Amazon order to see if I’m too late to change my mind… and then can’t decide.

I’ve decided to not use Steam for large games like this one based on previous experiences. I’d rather have it shipped to my doorstep and installed on Tuesday than spend all Monday or Sunday waiting by the computer for it to download at 54kb/s. It also helps if for some reason you have to reformat or reinstall the game in the future, imo.
