Based on the wiki Desslock linked to earlier, it appears that is a nice item but not powerful in an unbalancing way. You get 3 points to spend on attribute increases each time you level and they also go up on their own. While the wiki isn’t clear, it does not seem likely that 20 is the attribute max.

+3 to each of your attributes would be a very powerful item in Dragon Age.
I don’t think there’s a cap on the attributes - to get the higher powers, you have to have attribute scores in the mid-30s.
Sarkus, I don’t know what the “they go up on their own” statement means - they do not just increase throughout the game - you just get the 3 points per level (3 in total to distribute among all your attributes, although like in D&D, there’s natural attributes to favor based upon your class). You can also increase them during the game by finding magical bonuses, but those are relatively rare.
It really depends upon when you get the item - if you get it at the start, having +3 to each of our attributes would be extremely powerful - that’s essentially giving you 6 additional experience levels of attribute increases (although you wouldn’t distribute them evenly, given the choice).

Sure, but if it’s the PC version, then anyone can have the equivalent effect by cheating. NWN had a pretty extensive cheatcode list along with an item editor.

I was just going off of what the wiki says.
So it sounds like it is wrong in that regard from what you are reporting.

I think it’s just referring to “health” and “mana/stamina”, not the core attributes.

Well, that was specifically in the section of the wiki that talks about the attributes, so I’m not sure why anyone would think it applied to other stuff.
Second paragraph.
It could be confusion on the part of the wiki writers (not sure if that’s supposed to be an official wiki or not) or a mistake. But that is what it says.

The wiki got the information from this developer post, but we don’t know if the system changed in the time between his post and the build that Desslock got.
game.co.uk … ordered mine today ;)

It might happen - I’m not really a munchkin-numbers type of player, so I haven’t really been tracking each character’s stats that closely. I’ll watch next time one levels and confirm.
Is the character creator just for level 1 or can we kind of plan what a “max level” character would be?
As someone who really likes messing around with creating characters, that is really good news though!

Oh, sweet!

Well, I’m not as excited now since another Bioware dev said you can’t actually pick any skills to finish making your character. Weak.
It is mainly the character creation portion of the game, extracted so that you can play around with the different options. You will be able to look at the different high level abilities on those screens, but you do not get to select them.
Has there been any word what the power of the editor will be? I’m guessing that will be a huge bonus to the PC version, but I’m having trouble seeing what can actually be made with it. Is it a full NWN style editor or is it a more complicated, meant more for mods of Dragon Age type editor?

There is a full forum devoted to the editor here. The thread called “Limitations” would seem what you are looking for. From what I gather there are some hard coded things that you simply won’t be able to do and then there are some things, like creating a totally unique world, that are possible but which will require a lot of work. Not surprisingly, the editor is geared towards people making stuff set in the fantasy world Bioware created for the game. Those are the included assets in terms of monsters, terrain, and so on.
Now the only question is who is a bad enough dude to convert the amazing excel nwn2 char builder spreadsheet to dragon age…

That Excel is nothing compared to the website: http://www.nwn2db.com
It even supports the popular Kaedrin mod. :)
You win your nwn2 gold star for the day sir.
OK, but what about the other in-game bonuses billed to be in the CE on Amazon, namely:
3 pieces of exclusive in-game content:
* Bergen’s Honor: A massive helmet made out of dragonbone (+2 to armor, +25 physical resistance, +6 to attack).
* Grimoire of the Frozen Wates: A special book that adds +3 to all attributes when read.
* Final Reason: A magical staff of immense power (adds to damage, spell power, and fire damage).
“The Stone Prisoner” unlockable bonus quest and unlockable character, Shale.
Exclusive in-game item for use in the upcoming title Mass Effect 2.

Anyone want to link to a decent Monk build on that site? (or anywhere for that matter) I never finished the NWN2 OC, but I want to play MoB, and although I always love the idea of playing as a Monk, I suck at creating a decent build. Getting a decent base for one would be nice.
