Dbaum - I have a huge request from players.
One of the coolest parts of the game is dying, but sadly the game only tracks 10. I would love to have a running log of how I died every time in the game… especially the lower scored deaths which always make me laugh.
You’re announcing that you’ll have an announcement later on? You’re killing me here people.
Day before my birthday? Now that is pretty good timing.
Beginning of August is just a good time to be born.
It’s also a good day for Diggles to die.

Saw on the blog Dredmor for iPad in development, any word on a release date guess?
I just beat DoD on Going Rogue, with Permadeath, with a randomly generated build
Link to proof/more info Dungeons of Dredmor Ascension
Skills I used:
Big Game Hunter
Smithing
Fungal Arts (note, this skill has been nerfed)
Perception
Blood Magic
Master of Arms
Dual Wielding
Settings:
Going Rogue
Permadeath
Realm of the Diggle Gods
No Time to Grind
Please note that with this build, Blood Magic is completely useless, because nothing else is a mana-dependent skill whatsoever.
ASK ME ANYTHING.
WHY IS THE NEXT EXPANSION NOT OUT YET?
So near, yet so far…

Don’t forget to ‘buy’ the free expansion, “You have to name this expansion” on Steam if you got the Dredmor package. It doesn’t come with it by default and it rebalances much of the game.
Congrats! Now I want to play some more. I’d be lucky to make it two floors on those settings, though.

I haven’t made it past the 5th floor, and that’s just with the diggle expansion. I expect to get fully destroyed with the new DLC and the free one.
Is Big Game Hunter any good? I’ve been playing either vegan or melee necronomicon lately so I haven’t messed with it.

Alright, looks like we’re in good order to launch tomorrow!
I think this expansion is going to go pretty well. We’ve learned a LOT about what makes a good expansion since Realm of the Diggle Gods. (Hint: Don’t add 5 extra dungeon levels without realizing what a pain they’ll be to balance!)
And even if you don’t buy the expansion, there’s going to be a rather large patch which adds two new skills (Daggers & Polearms), lots of UI upgrades, the pocket dimension (by popular demands; though you don’t get Wizardlands or dimension customization w/o the Conquest of the Wizardlands, if I recall correctly.), and generally lots of new stuff. Tons of fixes, new sounds for monsters, ridiculous nonsense …
I’ll write it up in a blog post tomorrow. Hope y’all enjoy, and I can’t wait to see if anyone is going to be bothered to trade Wizard Codes. - or attempt to fight Vlad Digula.
Wait, this is coming out tomorrow?! Awesome!
I can’t yet imagine how it could be the vanguard of any builds. It comes with a few okay stat boosts but it’s not the sexiest of skills. Here are the benefits I found most worthy:
[ul]
[li]The meat you pick up can be used in versatile ways: eat it for a small boost, lutefisk it, or if you can find a grill put the steaks on it and stack those for cheap healing.
[/li]
[li]You get small, passive boosts to xp. (Good for surviving that first floor.)
[/li]
[li]The last nice perk is the final skill, it summons a flock of diggle pets to fight for you, but they don’t all “summon” if the spots around your character aren’t clear (ie: walls or monsters are in the way), so it’s limited in use. I liked it as a barrier between me and the scariest of monsters.
[/li][/ul]
Overall, it’s not great by itself, though if you want a support skill to round yourself out it can be handy.
Tomorrow is now, and I can’t get the expansion yet. It must be that I’m going to have to wait until normal human hours to be able to buy it. Alas.

I’m pretty sure Big Game Hunter also adds a significant increase to critical hit chances. It also increases the odds of enemies not dodging your attacks.
