I have a suggestion for the developers, now that the # of skills available is greater than one screen. It would be helpful to be able to view the skill tree for each one from the main menu or while generating a character. It would make coming up with character builds a little easier as you can see what you’re going to be getting before starting the game.
Where is my damned lutefisk hotkey

With the lutefisk cube open, hold SHIFT+ALT and left-click on items in your inventory to skol them. (There’s a tiny little ‘?’ in the lutefisk cube UI that explains how to do this but I think we hid it a bit too well.)
Edit, to address another post:
This is slated for the next patch. (You can even see where the button for this is going if you look for a little rectangle to left of the quickspell bar in the small version of the UI.)
oh fuck yes I am skolling the hell out of this shit

Is there a reason to not skip realm of the diggle gods now?
I fed the dogs an hour late last night because of the Pocket Realms.
Curses! May your mustache never be blessed with grated cheese!
What does this mean? Is there a reason not to skip a third of the game? If you mean you never bought it when it cost 75 cents, then shame on you and no its content is not replaced, every expansion just adds more and more stuff.
Help! Steam says I’ve got the new DLC but the game doesn’t actually have any of the content. I tried deleting and reinstalling it (from Steam - I suppose I could wipe out the directories afterwards). Any ideas?

So if I own this game and have never played it, does it make sense to just start with the expansion (since it seems to have a lot of interface and other improvements), or start with the base game.
Still not sure I want to try it, because I’m not big on humor in games like this, but I may give it a go and would like to know the most efficient way.

I don’t think there’s any good reason not to play without all the expansions? Other than price obviously. You can uncheck the extra long dungeon option at the start screen any time, so it would just be removing monster/item/skill variety.
(And don’t forget “You Have to Name the Expansion” Expansion. It’s free but it’s not included in Dredmore Complete. You can find it on the vanilla Dredmore page to add it to your install if you are missing it)

Is it more or less complex than something like Dungeon Crawl: Stone Soup?

I believe there is an iPad version coming, but it’s not out yet. Or, at least, sitting here on my iPad, a search for Dredmor in the app store comes up blank.
In related news, Dredmor is in good shape to become the first game that I own on Steam that I will re-buy on the iPad as soon as it is available.
Help! I want to enjoy this game, but my mace wielding, shield bashing, Viking magic using dr jones doesnt seem to be getting far. I don’t know if it is the fact that I seem to be coming down with something (and that has accidentally put me off games before, damn fevers) or what, but I’m having trouble finding the motivation to move forward in discovering this games nuances. Anyone have suggestions? Clearly there is a love for rogue likes here, and I’m a fan of step and bash dungeon crawls. Help?
(I’m aware that the game at self isn’t largely at fact here. I’m hoping for some suggestions that might focus my play short term so that I might get involved for the long term play. I had the same problem with terraria until I was shown what happened when various bosses were killed and what I would need to do to prep for the eye boss.)

I am far from a roguelike expert, but heres sugestions:
- Pay notice to your health bar. You probably die wen are sorrounded by hard hitting mobs and don’t use any escape solution.
- Don’t get sorrounded by mobs. Use corners and chockepoints to force the combats be 1 vs 1
- Have a way to escape hard shit. A telerport, health potion, maybe a blind something…
If you have a way to hit mobs from distance, is better than mele.
Ideally you would study the skill trees (using them) and try to make a combo of skills that have synergistic energies.
…But some people can win the game in the harder dificulty levels using random skills.
Bonus suggestion/idea:
- Don’t rush to lower levels. Try to get everything from a level before proceeding forward.
Theres a few wikis, that explain the skill trees.
Bonus info:
You can exchange lutefisk for items in the lutefisk god. You can steal from the vendor, and then try to avoid all the mobs he will spawn, and escape a level down.
The game won’t acknowledge my key presses any more. Weird. I guess I’ll have to try uninstalling and reinstalling.
