It is. :(

So what causes this? These creatures??

On the plus side every corruption stat counts as a new enchantment so using the archaeology enchantment scrambler can get you some truly amazing weapons. Best steer clear if you’re not wearing a fedora though.

Certain creatures (Magic Golem, Magic Dragon, Blob of Corruption) cause magical item corruption. Even the “trap of corruption” does this.

Corruption will check vs. resistance and dodge in the latest patch. At least it should once we fix the stuff that is broken. Which is everything. I’m pretty sure we’re going to add in a couple ways to clean corruption off items in post-107 content, via potion or quest.

(I do agree that the corruption effects are a bit harsh. They’re a bit of a holdover from a version of the game with way more Anvils of Krong and much higher magnitude of magic on enchanted items.)

dbaum - beta 1.07 looks fantastic so far. I LOVE the interface options you added. Great job!

Help!!

I accidentally enraged the shopkeeper and he kept on spawning those red devils that creates purple cloud poison. They just keep on spawning!

I don’t want to die!! (I’m at level 10 perma death). What can I do???

You’re screwed, but that’s the nature of this game. Learn from the mistake and don’t repeat it next time.

Don’t drop anything in that shop and try to pick it up either. Once it hits the floor, it must become his property.

I didn’t hit him on purpose. It was a result of collateral damage ( AoE)
I notice if I ran up one level, I’m fine.
Does it mean if I go down one level I’m fine too?

Yep, you’re only boned on the level that you pissed off Brax on. And since DoD doesn’t require you to ascend back out of the dungeon, you will likely be fine.

Incidentally, the enforcers will stop spawning if you kill all the shopkeepers on the level.

Ahhh, that could be my salvation. I was lucky that there are two shopkeepers side by side. I hope there’s only two per level. I’ve gotta thread this carefully!!

After 40 hours (according to Steam) and countless of games, I defeated Dredmor and I’m done. Very satisfying but I think I’m drained up. No more please!

Is there any reasons to continue the game after Dredmor’s death? Can I go further down in the dungeons? I don’t remember any staircase.

I’d say hold off for the next patch, which adds content, or the expansion.
There will be stuff then to go back to, or try a different, harder build.

Just to be terribly self-serving: you can get Dredmor for half off in the latest Steam sale. That makes it like US$2.49 which makes it about two and a half Dredmors for the falafel I had for lunch.

Apart from that we’re going to be starting the Dredmor expansion beta at the end of this week, probably, so if anyone wants in on that just drop me a PM. If you’ve already got the Dredmor beta app in Steam you’ll automatically be included in this.

If you’re burned out on Dredmor, the next patch will add a lot (a few new item slots, female hero, various other junk) but I think the expansion is really going to change the feel of the game a lot, particularly the redone crafting UI, scripted room content, and a pile of weird new skills (polymorphing, veganism, piracy). And I should say, all expansion code will be rolled into the core game, so you’ll get something of the experience without quite so much of the content. But you’ll also get new content because a bunch of new items, crafting, and updates to the core skill lines are going in the base game alongside the expansion as well.

Oh, and the next patch (1.0.7, coming rather soon from all sorts of unexpected directions) is getting a “no time to grind” mode which makes the levels 50% of the original size and boosts experience gains. Seems like the sort of thing busy people would like to have.

Hmm. So shoot any questions over if any are had 'eh and I’ll be happy to answer. Or PM me a beta request if you’d like in.

I must say I’m looking forward to the ‘no time to grind’ for a quickie in between games. That is such a great idea!

But for now, I’m eyeing that Portal 2 sale!

No kidding. That’s probably the main thing holding me back from more Dredmor playage. After a while the time investment it took for a game of Dredmor scared me off. Smaller dungeon floors and faster leveling should hopefully pull me back in. Though I was already gonna start playing again when the new patch/expansion hits anyway.

Sounds like you guys are going in the right direction. Looking forward to the expansion.

For anyone who missed the Steam sale, you can grab Dredmor (and a bunch of other games) for slightly more* as a new thingy in Humble Introversion Bundle:

    • Don’t pay the minimum unless you’re broke/cheapskate, these games are worth more than that.

Realm of the Diggle Gods!!!

“Sooner than we think” :)

Also 1.0.7 and 1.0.8 next week-ish.

Whoa that is really cool. Great news on the humble indie package too!
