Dual wielding stacks all the effects you get from weapon skills. If you have one weapon skill and dual wield two of that weapon you get double the stat bonuses, and I think two chances to proc the passive. If you take two different weapon skills and use one of each in each hand, you’ll get all the stat bonuses and chances to proc everything from both trees on every hit. You can also proc like fifty different passives at once from one hit if you have enough skills.

So on my first and only play through ( I did it for the diggle nog achievement) , I made it down to level 2 (I think) and found a room filled with monsters, I mean FILLED, I then got cornered , monster raped, and died (I played on Permadeath as I was told its the only way to play).

I enjoyed my 30 or so minute game, but my question is , on harder settings is the game always this short / impossible?

Did it say “Monster Zoo” when you opened the doors? If not, then you haven’t experienced the joy of opening the doors to a monster zoo, but it sounds like you did. On the early levels, you have to kite the critters to clean out the room. But if you run into another critter who’s coming from the direction you’re traveling in, oh my. Best to extricate yourself from betwixt the rock and hard place ASAP!

You’ll eventually learn the tricks to survive longer to reach the lower levels, so don’t give up!

Yeah it was a monster zoo, I think it gave me an achievement for finding it.

As if you wanted that achievement, huh! Take solace in the fact that they are never seeded on the first level. Gaslamp Games is not completely devoid of a heart.

The trick is finding a place where you can only get attacked from a single position.

So I finally started this and my hoarding OCD is killing me.

I can’t figure out how to craft. I’ve found several recipes in bookshelves, but not sure how to mix the ingredients together. I also can’t seem to locate the recipes. Where can I look at the recipes I’ve found?

Another Q - I prayed to some goddess and accepted a quest, but no idea how to complete it. Will the quest be on the level I recieved it or will it be later?

Quests are always on the level where you accept them.

You can’t craft much without taking a crafting skill at the start of the game, which lets you start with a crafting item. To look at recipes you’ve found, right-click on one of the items.

Also, your quest target will be something located randomly in the dungeon level - meaning it might be in an unexplored area, or it might be somewhere you’ve already been. If you’ve already been to an area, an icon on the minimap will show you the quest target. Skull-and-crossbones are for quest monsters, gold cross symbols are for quest items.

As Lynxara mentioned, all crafting requires the use of a crafting item. The different crafting items correspond to different types of crafting (e.g., alchemy or smithing).

OMFG

That is almost as much crafting as MineCraft

Off to find my quests…

Well, I got my quests done, ventured down to the 2nd level, was doing quite well actually, saved the game, went to bed.

Today, I load up my save and I’m fucked. I’m in some alternate dimension where all the baddies can take me down in no time. No way to salvage it. My mini-map shows nothing explored.

WTF??

This does not bode well for continued playing…and I checked the updates, no updates out recently.

You didn’t step onto a mysterious portal, by any chance? What level does the minimap say? If it says “level 0” you stepped onto the aforementioned portal and I don’t know what to tell you. The only time I did it I died with a quickness.

I don’t recall stepping on a portal. When I quit the other day, I was fine and dandy.

Time to re-roll. For my first play-through, I rolled the dice and got vegan. I like parts of it, but then I get into a room with a bunch of diggles and they start stepping on traps and before you know it, I have 180 steps to go before I can wear off my anti-vegan problem and my health is at 16. I don’t know why vegans get blamed for diggles stepping on their own traps.

I’m giving up. I’ve lost hours upon hours of play because of crashes, and corrupted save files.

I am not begin paid to be a beta-tester. This game is not ready for prime time.

Well, you are in the position of diving neck-deep into whatever game you’re playing at the moment.

With a dev in this thread, you could help out by explaining what went wrong and when.

I still wish damage and effect numbers that pop up when you hit an enemy were more pronounced. I can still barely see how much damage something is doing, and it’s tough to tell if the events list is correct.

I have posted on their dev forums about a corrupted save file, the latest crashes, I can’t tell you what I was doing other than walking. I’m not kidding. This is on the 1st level mind you. I am foolish enough not to save my game to reduce my lost time but after so many crashes, it’s just not stable enough. I’m not running anything weird - i7, 8gb RAM, win7 64 bit.

I’m just posting this because I can’t see myself being unique. It’s frustrating seeing posts on their forums where people are getting to the 15th level when I can’t seem to get out of the first level. It’s probably something on my OCD complex - I like to hit every nook and cranny, complete the two quests you normally get before venturing to the 2nd level.

It has the potential of being a fun game, but I’m not touching it for at least a month or longer.

I have yet to have a single crash in this game, even since the beta. One day I’ll get that achievement, one day…

Yeah, I think I had one or two crashes when the game first came out and never since then. Crashing constantly sounds like some kind of crazy compatability problem.

Same here… no crashes except for the bugs that were advertised.
