Somehow I feel this is like the girl you had a crush on when you are in college calling you up out of the blue when you are married and have kids to tell you she is available.

I’ve moved on but why do I still dream about you!

Her menacing spikes?

Because your wife is fat and your kids are brats but she’s as hot and wild as ever.

… in your mind.

Where it counts.

… the many days that you’ve wasted with your fat wife and lousy kids.

It doesn’t count, it simulates by starting from single protons and neutrons and a vague memory of a glimpse of leg when she got into a prom limo with someone else and building up from there.

Pinky Snappedpudding was a human born in 1978.

In the spring of 1997, Pinky Snappedpudding flashed some thigh at Gymnasium the Broken Dreamwater.

Ack! Can you guys please stop bumping the thread until a new release actually shows up? You’re all a bunch of teases!

A regular bunch of Pinky Snappedpuddings.

Just for your information, the new version has just been released. It looks like the website has also been somewhat redesigned.

Huh. Not an April fools joke?

Generating my own world now. Web site is crazy slow/broken, but it did indeed get an update. Doesn’t seem to incorporate the OpenGL stuff though, or at least it’s not resizing for me easily.

Ah, board just loaded up with the release notes.

Will wait for that before I get serious with it, I am sure there are an epic amount of bugs to squash too.

Dammit, the old site was cached in my browser so i never noticed any updates.

edit: new site doesnt seem to load :(

So I’ve started to explore the new underground. Still only 9 dwarves, (2 immigrants), very small fort. No combat skills, civilians only. Surely the underground caverns aren’t that dangerous, I thought.
On my early exploration with my miners they encountered a flying severed head. The head bit at the leather robe of the miner, which didn’t do anything. The miner shattered the heads skull, which proved lethal.
But all the cavern contained was a map-spanning lake of water. So they dug deeper.
Some 50 levels under the surface the miners discovered another cavern. This one wasn’t flooded, so I ordered them to explore it. It appeared peaceful, there did not seem to be a living thing. Lots of valuable ore and tower-cap like plants though. But in the northeast corner, the miners spotted adamantine. Just like that.
So I ordered them to mine some out, and got all of 9 dwarves start hauling it to a stockpile. On one of the last trips back, the woodcutter encountered a troll. The troll grabbed the woodcutter by the upper arm. The woodcutter responded by cutting his head of with his axe.

So from my early experiences, it looks like the underground contains vast wealth, and as of yet little threat. Has anyone else encountered something interesting there?

Will there need to be changes in Calistas’s tutorial?

Almost certainly… I don’t think anything like that is going to come until the OpenGL merge, though. I’m on Linux, so I can’t even run it.

Great.
Now I just need to wait a month for a few bug fixes and Mayday catching up. :)

As with any major release, the dangers won’t be from where you expect. Trolls? No problem. Skeletal sparrows? They will fuck your shit up.

Ditto! Good thing I checked here.

But in an unrelated case I have the day off and I uh have things to…

Apparently you can apply old graphics sets to the new game, anyone know how I might be able to take the old normal MayGreen (as opposed to the fancy png 40dx MayGreen) to the new DF?

Well, at least the lack of a Mac release immediate means my work productivity isn’t completely killed today.
