Change [WINDOWED:YES] to [WINDOWED:PROMPT]
Thanks Spam but I got my copy to work as soon as I hit on the fact that I needed to also copy over the fonts to the data/art folder. Thanks though!
And dangit it keeps crashing on worldgen… lol
That’s what I said, when I change it to PROMPT it crashes and runs as windowed…
And yeah, still crashing on world gen for me too. sad face
Really? Thats odd
I can’t seem to gen past the year 200, but I can stop it before that. As the years go by it starts hanging more frequently, maybe those hangs are whats causing it shrug
But time to play!
Edit: Yeah the graphics set doesn’t work completely correctly, river bends show up as blanks as does the H in hot for temperature, but mehhh
(In vanilla) I can gen and play fine, it’s when I use any tileset or other modification that it crashes.

Did you guys replace your raws with dfg16? Definitely make sure you’re using the raws from df_31_01 for now. Also, I actually did do worldgen before I changed the graphics, so might need to do worldgen in text mode, then switch to graphics for gameplay. In any case it’s working fine for normal gameplay here…
I think I did…
Also, is the random world gen now much MUCH longer? I’m genning a new world and it’s been 1050 years before it stopped!?
You mean the objects? No I didn’t.
Are you using the default font or the mayday font?
Oooh, oozes on the embark screen!

I’m using maydayMAX (you can look at the init.txt in that zip I posted). As I said my dwarfs and other mobiles are not right. It’s probably just a matter of editing mayday_graphics.txt to correspond to the new creature IDs, but I haven’t bothered… items/walls/furniture are enough graphics for me.
Hmm, just changed it to maydayMAX as opposed to maydayMIX and you’re right that one does work perfectly, well aside from worldgen crashes. Last one was a runtime error apparently.
Aspad was a forgotten beast. It was the only one of its kind. A gigantic noseless pig. It has thin wings of stretched skin and it appears to be emaciated. Its black hair is long and wavy. Beware its deadly blood! Aspad was associated with water, chaos and caverns.
In a time before time, Aspad began wandering the depths of the world.
I take a pottery class with that guy.
Ah, back to the Fort, after waiting for the new release for…a year.
Now I just have to remember how to find idlers easily. Fucking lazy dwarves need to be cutting down trees or building doors!
Here’s a warning: The mechanics of combat have changed drastically. There are different kinds of strikes, and they affect different tissues and layers and materials in different ways.
I am living in a haunted mountain. A Skeletal Mountain Goat approached my fortress entrance as the dwarven caravan arrived. I sent out my axedwarf and my wrestler (actually an unarmed swordsdwarf).
As soon as the axedwarf stepped up to the skeletal mountain goat, it grabbed her head in its hooves and ripped it off.

Then my wrestler arrived, as well as an axedwarf and a speardwarf from the caravan guards. They have been fighting it for half an hour now. The speardwarf cannot hurt it at all with its spear thrusts - there is no flesh to pierce. My wrestler can pin it down, but can’t hurt it with punches - there is no flesh to bruise. All of the skeletal mountain goat’s bones appear to be already broken - they’re red in the wounds page. But it is still alive.
This is happening right outside my fortress entrance. My dwarves are too scared to go near it. Some can’t get back inside to sleep and eat, and the rest can’t get outside to drink or fish.
And what’s worse, we’ve run out of beer.
I don’t know what to do.
Wow, this is a good update …
I’d really like to see the day someone maps this to a realtime 3D engine … Watch my squad of pink-scarved hammerlords scatter goblins into the skies …

This is what you get for ignoring the natural Dwarven affinity for hammers.

Yeah not sure if i can handle going back to vanilla DF, I want to play but no therapist and no Mayday make it rough.
Fuckin’ awesome. I too will wait for Mayday though.
I’ve never heard of Mayday, but I think it’s funny that after all the bluster you aren’t even going to make an extra effort for your favorite game!

I did make the effort, tried many things to get mayday working, also tried playing without it - just not my cup of tea to figure out what a tree is and what is grass etc. I’m sure there will be a solution very soon.
