I imagine Microsoft will not allow direct access to hardware acceleration on the “Win8-like” vm inside the Xone. Dooming countless generations to 2D flash-like games made for casuals.
I idea that I have read somewhere, and that intrigue me, is preinstalled games. With a 500GB disc, you can be so awesome has to include some preinstalled games, like Frog Fractions. Microsoft is supposedly stingy, but maybe randomly choose to act out of character and give people something for free. Something evil would be to pre-install some multiplayer game that need Live to run. That would be a masterstroke… “Look at all the free games I have include in the console… that need you to pay 15 montly to play!”.
I’m pretty sure we have answers from one of the three since the console’s been out a while.
Honestly, I’m not very excited for this year’s E3. I’ll watch MS’s during my lunch, and Sony’s if I don’t have anything else going on, but the most exciting things for me would be 1) actual Vita support and 2) Nintendo announcing that eShop accounts are now universal, cards for 3DS and Wii U can redeem for general credit, and games are yours at an account instead of a console level. So yea, probably going to be a disappointing year.
I haven’t seen any of these press conferences, but after reading the summary posts on the Qt3 front page, I really want to see Ubisoft’s now. I hope there’s a video of it somewhere I can check out? Anyone?
Nintendo and various Japanese third-parties make games for it, and while being somewhat niche (particularly in the American midwest), it does a good job of catering to people who want the kind of quirky low- and mid-budget Japanese games that largely died out this generation. Meanwhile, despite constant cries about handhelds being dead because of smartphones and tablets, the 3DS continues to print money, particularly in Asia.
Also, manchildren on the Internet continue to talk about how Nintendo games are for kids and continue to act as if graphics are the only thing that matters, but also continue to talk about how much they want Nintendo to go third-party so they can have the first-party Nintendo games they actually do want to play without having to “stoop down” to the level of buying a Nintendo platform. (This isn’t a prediction, by the way.)
