Since The Entity and I are not at E3 this year, can one of you fine folks get a look at Konami’s Hellboy game and tell me how much it sucks? As a Hellboy fan, I’m just going to assume it sucks. I just want to get an idea how much it sucks.
Also, if Derek Smart is there, please throw him into the Figueroa Hotel pool for me.
How do you even make a game like that? I mean, the whole point of Hellboy is watching him getting beaten up for several pages and coming back for more.
I’m sure it’s not good, but I’m wondering at the levels of bad. I was going to rent it, but it’s not looking like any place around me is going to bother carrying it, and I’m having a hard time justifying throwing 60 bucks down on it.
Wondered if anyone has any thoughts. The reviews are pretty mixed(tending towards bad).
I played it last July and it was awful, seems the nine month or so delay was to time with movie rather than improve on anything. Has Krome ever made a good game?
Well, we gave it a 1 out of 5, and justifiably so, IMO. It’s a really, really uninspired beat 'em up that has no sense of pacing to speak of. Enemies move kinda slow, you knock them down a lot, they get up slowly, you knock them down again, etc. The germ of a decent combat system is in there, but if you’ve played the first two minutes, you’ve basically played the game. If you’re interested, find a way to rent it or just skip it entirely.
I don’t actually read Hellboy, but does he even have any special moves? In the movie, he’s got a gun and a big arm that punches things. That’s it. Other than a shooter of some sort, what kind of game could you really make of that?
