EA parting ways with E3

From what they were saying on the Beastcast, EA are actually going to be at E3 in the sense of having meeting rooms at the venue. I don’t know the details of E3, but most conventions don’t let you do that unless you pay a sponsorship fee. I guess it’s likely the case that the fee is way less that the fees for booth space (not to mention the cost of the booths themselves).

Activision is also not going to be paying for a booth.

In June, we’re going to be at E3 showcasing gameplay from Infinity Ward’s ambitious new game. We’re looking forward to sharing exciting new details about the next great Call of Duty game in partnership with our friends at PlayStation. We’re proud to be participating in this premier video game event, but won’t have an Activision booth on the show floor.
