EA Play 2020

Didn’t see any other topic where this should go, so let’s start a new one.

EA Play starts at 4pm pacific (12 minutes from now).

I’m watching at https://www.twitch.tv/twitchgaming

Things we can be sure of:

Star Wars Squadrons (already announced)
Madden
FIFA
Update on how they’re fixing Anthem
APEX Legends update
Lots of talk about how games have no loot boxes. Those were so 2019.
Uncomfortable reliance on “content creators” as on-air talent

Not sure:
Star Wars Battlefront III
and/or Battlefield VI
What beloved franchise they’re going to shoe-horn into a painful mobile demo
Surprise next-gen reboot. SSX maybe?

They stopped the main countdown at 8:46 and added a smaller one.

Yeah, when exactly does this things start? LOL.

Ah, there it goes, 60 second countdown.

I, for one, am thankful that the head of EA thinks that games “can” be fun!

It could go in the E3 2020 thread

Too late now.

First up was…

An APEX Legends update.

More content in Season 5
Cross play between all platforms
Switch version coming

So this event is called EA Play Live, but these are very clearly pre-recorded and produced segments.

Next segment was about The Sims, but they have zero new content to talk about. I guess they’re just reminding us it exists?

…Anthem? LOL.

Sim 4 all DLC is only $511 on Steam. Bargain! I don’t think that even includes the base game.

Segment 3 is EA’s “originals” devs talking about “how they do it.” Zero actual announcements.

OK, first real new game announce is…It Takes Two from the guys who did No Way Out.

Only suffering through this in hopes of seeing ME trilogy remaster.

A Way Out was a great game that got overlooked by many. I’m looking forward to their next title.

Lost in Random, by Zoink Studios. No real gameplay being shown. This is very early.

Trailer time. Art style is all in on Tim Burton’s stop-motion look and feel.

Rocket Arena. Why does this game exist?

Money.

Time for some Squadrons gameplay footage… woo.

Maybe it’s just the purist in me, but I don’t love these fake back-and-forth conversations these people are having. I mean it’s so obvious that this is just two different recordings. None of this is live and these two never interacted in real time.

I just don’t like the unnecessary fakery.

This footage “represents game in development.”

This isn’t real gameplay.

I remember Rocket Arena getting announced at E3 last year. Interesting detail:

Star Wars Squadrons looked really good. @BrianRubin is gonna flip.
