And the Kindle edition of One Flew Over Cuckoo’s Nest is on sale for $2.99. I love the movie so I am happy to pick up the book. Hopefully it is even better!

It’s showing as 7.99 for me on Amazon. If the movie is good, I’ll try to track that down. Maybe it’s on a streaming service.

I have not read the book but the movie is incredible.

Gordon R. Dickson’s Dorsai! is on sale at amazon for $1.99. Its the first in the Childe Cycle and is part of some of the earliest and best military sci-fi out there. Its not as much hard military fiction as some of what we get today so its a bit more accessible as well.

Stephenson’s Cryptonomicon (Kindle version) is on sale today for $1.99.

The book is from the viewpoint of Chief Bromden. It’s a brilliant work, IMHO. More depth than the movie. If you’ve already seen the movie you’re going to have a hard time seeing the main character as anyone but Nicholson. That wasn’t an issue for me. Of course YMMV. Highly recommended.

Sold. It’ll be nice to re-read this on my iPhone.

I tried to read Cryptonomicon but find it hard to progress because of it’s more humorous writing style. It’s just not for me.

Ooh, I’ve had that on my to read-list forever. As it is massive, an ebook sounds just right.

Price was $2,49 here, though.

Joe Haldeman’s Forever War is on sale on Kindle for a quarter. Thats pretty tough to beat!

Thanks for the heads up!

Wow, it looks like Forever War has another sequel now, Forever Free. The original has been in my backlog forever. Having it on Kindle instead of paper should help me get to it.

Just under a week left on the Neil Gaiman ebook bundle at Humble.

I tried getting into this first book, but my god, it’s so hard.

For now I gave up. The new book in the Expanse series came out, and I just started that. It’s so much easier to read books within series when you already know the universe, right? You can just slip right in and start reading. But when you’re starting a new universe, it’s so hard to get going.

If/when ya get back, good luck!

And I need to get those Expanse books. . .

Kindle store has NY Times Bestsellers on sale just today. I got the book about the Daily Show that was just recently released, for $3.

I’m not familiar with any of the other books on the list. Anything else worth getting?

Amazon has James Bond for $2 per book for the kindle editions. All 14 of Ian Fleming’s books.

I’m kind of tempted to grab Casino Royale. I’ve always been a huge fan of the movies and wondered what the books were like.

Thanks for the heads-up! That’s a lot of reading for $25!

Well shit, I had to buy 'em all didn’t I? Seriously, I’ve always wanted to read these. Thanks!

Just be aware that the James Bond from the books isn’t very much like the one from the movies. At least not initially - Fleming kind of moved that direction after the movies had been released.
