If you want to read it on a Kindle, or you want to reward the author for his efforts, by all means grab the inexpensive short off Amazon!
But just noting it’s still available on tor.com for free as well:

I have several dollars in digital credit on Amazon from letting them send stuff more slowly, so I got it for free. Thanks for the heads-up!

Amazon has the first three Alex Cross books in a complication for $4.99 While the series is rather long in the tooth, when it started out is was really good, These three are all worth reading and the first one, Along Came a Spider is a top tier mystery novel.

The early parts of that series were indeed very good.
Found a copy on Libby from my library. The ebook apps (I use Libby/Overdrive and Hoopla) really come in handy. They seem to have loads of recent stuff, currently reading Piranesi. Two week limit and usually people waiting means I have to hop on some of these to get them done, perfect for a (pricey) novella though. Too many books too little time is my problem.
The wonderful Ten Thousand Doors of January (Hugo/Nebula/Locus nominee) is on sale. It is a Fantasy novel with just an incredible love of books and language. - $3.99

I don’t know if these are deals, but books 1-4 of Doc Smith’s Lensmen Series are $0.99 each (book 1 - Triplanetary is fee in the public domain, FWIWI). book 5 is $2.99, book 6 is $7.99.
If you like old school space opera, this is the defining series.

I picked those up a few months ago and reread them. While the series is definitely dated, it is still a fun read. Much of modern sci-fi owes a debt to the Lensmen series. Hell, Jedi are pretty much Lensmen with light sabers.
Is there anything else worthwhile in the Kindle daily deals today?

Horrorstör is on sale, which sounds amusing: essentially a haunted IKEA. I think I want that more as a movie than book, though.
However, I’m glad you made me look, @WarpRattler, because Noir: A Novel is on sale, and this is right up my alley. Picked it up for $2.99. Sounds like basically 40’s noir meets 50’s sci-fi.
It’s actually really good and creepy. The mix between satire of IKEA and full on horror novel works remarkably well. I can also recommend We Sold Our Souls by the same dude.
I’d be curious to know what you think. I tried reading this author and his humor didn’t do it for me, and his stuff seems to really count on being funny.

I picked up Michael Crichton’s The Great Train Robbery for $1.99.

Agreed both are great. I have my Best Friends Exorcism too but haven’t read it yet. I was kicking myself because his latest the Southern Book Club Guide to Killing Vampires, or something like that was on sale yesterday and I forgot to pull the trigger and the sales over now…I guess that’s more of an Anti-Ebook Bargain.
Nothing to do with books but I just watched the movie Satanic Panic, I enjoyed it and when checking the credits I saw Grady Hendrix wrote it too.
I have not read this so cannot offer any impressions, but Legacy of Ash by Matthew Ward is $1.99 on Amazon (and I think other platforms too). The second book of the trilogy just released.

I don’t know anything about these, but it came from William Gibson’s twitter, so must be worth something.
Marc Laidlaw is ex-Valve. Wrote for the Half-Life series. And apparently, also some novels. (I guess he started out in fiction before the Valve gig, but that’s why people here would be familiar with him, I think.)
I am forever confusing Marc Laidlaw and Mike Laidlaw.
There’s a new SF Humble Bundle. The $1 tier has a couple of early Tim Powers books, three of Shatner’s Tekwar books, and an Allen Steele book, among others. I am not interested in the Shatner books, but since they were ghosted perhaps they are ok?
