So I beat Margot and after looking around for about an hour figured out how to get to the gate that had opened up. I thought that area was for a boss fight and so hadn’t thought that was where I was supposed to go. I went in, didn’t take the lift and stumbled blind into the Fell Bros. Panicked and died.
So how do you get into the sewers? I thought I had found it but it was short with dead ends, unless I missed a secret passage or side door or something.

Found the alternate entrance to Deeproot Depths and there is literally zero way you could find this without a guide. Pretty cool how it ties the geography of the world together though!
To access a larger portion if the sewers, theres a well that you can climb down.

Go to the Avenue Balcony point of grace. Head northwest (away from the street), break left behind the first building then around the side. Down below over the railing there’s a little courtyard with those dudes that try to eat your face in it. Jump over the railing and down there you’ll find a well with a ladder going down. Good luck. Leyndell is I think my favorite location in the game; just enormous and filled with shortcuts and crazy shit.

This took me quite awhile too :) It’s obvious from the map, but hard to correlate map places to places you’ve been.
Its kind of rpg 101, look down every well, and behind every waterfall. Most times its nothing but that 1% chance you find something is just enough to reinforce that habit.
Finally beat fire giant! Doing the cheese turned out to be way harder than doing it legit. I read you could summon Jar Man for the fight so had to pootle around to get that quest line far enough along. First try with my mimic and Alex the big bad went down! I gave it scarlet rot with my dragon breath and dual wielding a poison and a bleed greatsword, stacks on stacks on stacks.
No I ran past him because I read a spoiler about the item nearby, then I teleported away, harvested some runes near the Dragon on the bridge, got to 24,000 runes then mistimed a parry and got killed, then got killed again out of impatience, and so I lost those runes.
Then I harvested another 8,000 runes, levelled up, harvested, levelled up, went exploring, found the castle with the Vampire bats and then the ghosts, lost s0me runes before running away for good, then found the area with the giant T-Rex dogs, got ganked, ran away, teleported to Dragon Ruins Lake and ended my playtime just bullying those guys on horses, who used to be challenging.

The lack of level 6 smithing stones had led me to wiki searching for them. It really shouldn’t require that. Also, those fast ice guys in the ruins after the Mountaintop of Giants lift can just go to hell.

Yeah that’s where I’m at. I spent a few minutes on those ruins, said screw it and ran past

According to the wiki there is something there I need and want. So I may just end up making some suicidal runs into there.

You can fairly easily run past them for it. That area is not tiny and those guys are very, very dangerous. There’s a part that has three of them all together, and taking that on even with mimic tear is basically suicide. From has to know this and put them there anyway just to be run past.
People will argue about it all day long, but in my opinion, which is now unchangeable so don’t anyone even try, the open world breaks the smithing stone system pretty hard.

I’d agree with this.
The “balance” is the bells, but the reality is that those bells come pretty damned late, so it’s more a matter of retroactively catching up, which still bones you where you are right now.
For example, my second weapon is stuck at like +15 or whatever. I need Smithing Stones 5 and 6. I can get them from a place that will basically require a lot higher level gear, which… well that’s kind of silly. I mean it’s my 2nd weapon, so not the end of the world, but it’s still an issue.
Hell, my first playthrough Somber Stone 7 was the deal breaker. I had literally multiple 8’s and 9’s, but had found zero 7’s. Then several hours later I think I had like literally a dozen SSS 7’s after never seeing a single one for 80+ hours.

Yeah, the being able to skip stones unintentionally is what I mean. I’ve had the same thing happen.

Does Radagon’s Soreseal make sense for a magic user?

That’s cause progression is messed up and guides you towards Caelid when you really should be exploring Altus plateau.

Before 40 Vigor, usually.
It also gives you Stamina, which is actually relevant for casters since casting tends to chunk it.

Yea, past games with held upgrade materials until late but they also didn’t upgrade to +24. I was stuck at +17 and even the wiki said I should be at +20 for that place. For the guys in Zamor the difference won’t help me but for most it will. Turns out I had been holding off giving Ranni what I got for her because I didn’t know what it would trigger, but one benefit was it let me into an area I couldn’t otherwise get into which had higher level stones and Ghostwort.

Wow what a great game… just finished with 100% of achievements after 75 hours.
Having not played any before beyond Demon’s Souls briefly, what From game should I play next?
