Excellent. Thank you!

Sorry yet another question :)

Is there any reason to NOT kill Istvan, who the VOLCANO manor wants me to take out?

You can get to the end of Volcano Manor without killing anyone. I did, kind of by accident. There’s something special about one of the rooms there that your new key will open. It might stop you from doing the ā€œquestlineā€ that ends with getting that sick snake hammer, I’m not sure. But, you know, if for RP reasons you’re leery about going out to murder people on their say so. Poke around.

I’m 100 hours into this game, and I still have no idea where Volcano Manor is. Perhaps it’s up here in the snowy Land of the Giants…

None, other than roleplay. The various people at the manor will send you out on multiple such missions. If you complete all of them, you will get some rewards you would otherwise never see. You can choose not to do them, though, as the entire area is optional.

I would recommend doing them all and completing the various quests associated. Talk to everyone in the manor’s little safe zone after each one. There’s a lot of content packed in there. It also leads to a pretty interesting conclusion, when you finally meet the boss.

Volcano manor was a pain to get too, took me a while ti figure out there was a cliff I was supposed to jump off of. I had run several laps around the place trying to find my way.

Or you can get an invite to volcano manor and warp there.

It amazes me that you can completely miss this area. Same with the Haligtree and, I think, the Academy. All three are optional, and two of them are genuinely hard to even find. But the final boss fights are amazing from a lore, mechanics and rewards perspective.

Ya I got the invite, but didnt know that I was supposed to find that npc, again in a location I had allready explored. So didnt see her again until I walked into the manor and was told by one person that I was uninvited, snd then found the girl, and shes all ’ i wish i could have helped you.’ Ya,me too.

Maby set off a flare gun to let me know where you moved to next time.

I almost rage quit because of that minor rotten erdtree. That rot always got me or my spirit, it kills so fast… But I found a method, that went well. I got some mix ingredients for stamina. Not sure if dying 20 times was worth it.

And in another part of the world, I found some stupid tower with a teleporting mage. He got me. Twice. I will come back, you need a lot of patience before running for an attack.

I am looking my way through Raya Lucaria, but I can’T find the boss. I was routed back to my starting grace by a ladder after I went on the roofs. I must have missed some branch.

Lucaria is pretty linear if I remember right. Did you take the lift near the bridge? Have you fought the first boss?

As for those ā€œputrid Erdtree avatarsā€, I quit messing with them after half a dozen quick deaths,

I don’t know if it would help but the map now shows where people are. Sometimes anyway.

The map shows where you saw them last, but if they move, you have to find them agai. For it to show on the map.

As for the academy, you need to go to the study hall where the red fox was, and head out to the courtyard…the path to the main boss branchs from that courtyard

… end? You’ve still got Malenia to rage quit to after dying 50 times from.

One thing I had to learn with the late boss fights is that you have to be willing to experiment with different strategies. Going in with the same build/gear/skills that has worked for you thus far might just get you killed over and over and over to no avail.

I have had the map show me where someone was before I found them. Blaidd underground showed n the map before I had found him. I don’t know if that works for every character though.

You don’t have to jump…

Malenia is optional. Malekith is not.

That’s true, although to be honest I died more times to the Elden Beast than I did Malekith. Relative difficulty probably depends on the exact build being run.

FYI late midgamish rune farming area worth about 13k souls in 3-4 minutes. I use it to top off when I’m at 30k-40k and want to level before losing them.

In Deeproot Depths at the Nameless Eternal City grace you can head up the root system with your horse and take out 4-5 gargoyles for ~3500 runes each. The gargoyles breath fire but don’t move at all and all of them are easy to get behind without risk (except of falling off the roots.)
