Which summon? In my opinion the best summon is Finally, but you don’t get her there.

NPC summon, not spirit ashes. Another muddying of the waters on Fromsoftware’s part as far as terminology. Bernahl is the guy I’m talking about. I’m pretty sure he summoned me to HIS world, with how hard he dunked on the duo.

Ahhh… Ok. I didn’t have him for the duo fight, but he may have been available.

Seriously though, Finlay rules.

I don’t know if anybody mentioned, but the latin singing bat lady, only a Miyazaki game would come up with this. I found one early in the game in Limgrave… and then a bat cave with a couple of bat singers… so great.

if someone is interested in the lyrics

I killed the one in the cave but I let the other one live. Seemed wrong to kill it.

There are a number of entities in the game who make very nice music.

Tarnished, I have reached the end of the spoiler thread.

I’m still so far behind (just got to the plateau, level 75) that I’m not going to be spoiling much of anyone else’s game.

I’m probably horribly spec’d at this point (20 vitality for the getting one shot!), and am still wearing the starting astrologer armor (except for a +6 int dumb looking headpiece, stats over fashion unfortunately.) Should I be angling to wear something else? I could buy Rennala’s set, but it looks pretty goofy. Oh, here’s a spoiler: People say Rennala’s strong against magic so it’s hard for spell casters. She didn’t even get a single spell off in phase two before I nuked her ass into the dirt. Phase one was the hard part, because targeting the right mob in a crowd is annoying, so I had to SERPENTINE run through the acolytes to whack the singing ones upside the head with my amazing starter sword to shut them up, and that took a few tries to realize I didn’t need to do anything else to get past the stage.

I have a Carian Regal Scepter +5. My meteorite staff still does more damage with every spell, which is super disappointing. If I had more somber stones I’d push it up more. My int is in the low 60’s, so maybe I’m not scaled up enough yet? So ignore vitality and pump int to get that scaling!

Renala’s hat is good. I’ve been wearing it most of the game.

Gosh damn it. So I killed Rykard and as I was making sure all dialogue options were up to date I went back to volcano manor and talked to everyone. The lady said she’s leaving and now I can’t find the icon for the 2 people in the capital I was supposed to kill. I specifically wanted/needed the armor off of one of them.

So how do I get the armor and rewards off those guys now?

Yup! I spent the vast majority of my time with that hat and the Veteran’s set.

The regal scepter is solid once its upgraded, but the meteorite one is just the best staff for a long time. Unless your going a faith int build, or going for invisible spells. I wish there where more staffs in the game. The next 2 best staffs, make spells cost more fp…a lot more then they are worth, tho theres a talisman late game that reduces fo cost for spells at the cost of 200hp thats supposed to even that out.

If you killed Rykard before finishing the manor quests I believe that’s that until ng+, although supposedly Bernahl will still invade you later (have not gotten to the place this is supposed to happen yet so I can’t personally confirm).

Sadly it’s also hideous.

But at least it’s not glintstone mage hideous.

Regal Scepter isn’t better than the starting Astro staff at 60 INT, which was a surprise for me.

Meterorite was leader until 40ish iirc, then Astro pulled ahead.

Even the “more FP but max damage” staff is roughly the same as the Astro for me.

Interesting tidbit:

“Reeds” in “Land of Reeds,” the armor the samurai class starts with, is written as 葦, which is the first character in 葦名, which is Ashina, the clan/land from Sekiro. Fun little callback.

Phew! Just like Elden Ring, these threads keep going and going.

There’s a couple other crazy sorcerer uniforms, but they are definitely all goofy. I chose Burger King Mage, looks like others chose Teletubby Sorcerer, but there’s more that make you look like Glintstone Transformers and give stat boosts. It’s more a fashion choice still though.

From my understanding the staffs are really affected by upgrading. At 60 int, you should already be at the place where other staffs will be better than meteorite if upgraded.

20 Vit is… Certainly a choice haha! I know the allure, though, especially as a sorcerer. High requirement spells and all that. And since you’re deep into one-shot territory, it’ll take a bit of investment to get out of it.

So Does Ashina translate into something with “Reed” in it? And I wonder if the other samurai set has a reference too?

Damn. I highly doubt I want to go NG+

That’s one thing that kind of infuriates me about this game design. If you don’t do stuff in some stupid pre-determined order the player would have no clue about, you lose out.

The other character is “name”. Sekiro is loosely based on Japanese history, and there was a historical Ashina clan, although they spelled their name 蘆名 (also “reed name”). Though Wikipedia says: “Sometimes the kanji Kan-on characters “芦名” and “葦名” are used also.”

If by “other samurai set” you mean the White Land of Reeds armor, in Japanese it’s simply (and somewhat oddly to my eyes) called 白備え, or “white preparation/provision” set. No idea what if anything that’s supposed to mean.

Hmm. It’s in a cave with spiritsnails who summon the npc wearing them. And there’s a godskin duo who are summoned in the cave. A very mysterious place, overall.
