To me, all of these games have been designed around the idea that everyone is going to look everything up, so we have to still make the game hard for people that know everything. It makes the games super obtuse and difficult for people who play them blind.
At the end of the day, you sort of have to play the game the way they designed it, and just go with the flow.
This is the reason that weight is so important, and why fat rolling is so bad. There are a lot of attacks in the game you can only avoid via the invulnerable frames during your roll. The different tiers of encumbrance have different numbers of frames, if you are at ‘heavy’ you literally have no invulnerable frames. The timing of rolls is probably the most crucial skill in the game to get a handle on, there are a lot of mobs that there is just no getting away from.
The performance in this game on PC continues to be just so poor. Especially now that I left the Southern Peninsula and am going back to new areas like the Stormgate area. Just the drops of so many frames and hitches and stuttering is just so bad. I know it will get cached again and get better, but having to endure this every time I enter a new area with new enemies is just ridiculous. I really hope they fix this in a patch before I reach another new area.
If your horse, and most mobs, aren’t invisible, I don’t even want to hear it!

Restarted as a mage and am finding it a lot more fun. Already past most of what I had done on first toon, just not levelled.
50+ hours in on two characters and now you tell me I can upgrade my summons too? Whaaaaat?
Also just grabbed the sword of light and fire. Just need to level up my faith now. Faith? What’s that lol. I have one minor heal spell and no staff to cast it with.

You can cast miracles with seals.

I don’t know what either of those terms mean.

Sorry, incantations = miracles. That’s what they were called in previous game. Seal is a catalyst (weapon) that is used to cast them, like staff is for sorceries. You can buy finger seal from the twin husks in Roundtable Hold I think.

Ah I wondered what those did! I saw them on the husk earlier today
I’m not as far along but I’m also finding the Astrologer my favorite so far. I have him at the lofty heights of level 14, like my Confessor, but I’ve been more successful. Cleaned out that camp of soldiers by the gate or whatever finally, though the loot I got in the process was kinda meh. Also discovered the joys of double-jumping on the horse. Who knew that, counter to logic, you can climb mountains better on horseback?

Finally felled Margit with the help of a couple of online strangers. Also discovered that you can just run around the side of Stormveil castle and ride all the way to the gates of the academy.
Somebody gave great advice above for everything big and bossy: just try to not get hit for a while before landing any hit yourself. Like dancing with the mob all in peace. Maybe even for minutes if it’s a real boss. Rolling will be a factor here. But you also should get a shield that absorbs 100% physical damage (if you have the stamina). And then… if you know how the big bossy thing moves and how you should move to stay safe…start trying to hit it when you feel it’s the most safe. There is for sure some trial and error involved.

Uh oh… I went to the one just above Stormgate and gave it a number of attempts on my samurai. I think I’ve landed a grand total of one hit thus far.

I’m convinced Torrent is half mountain goat. I think that’s where his horns come from.
If that’s the one where the opponent is the Crucible Knight it’s definitely tougher than the others I’ve been to, even in the next “big area”. I lost there at least 20 times before I learned how and when to get a hit in.
I think I’ve killed 45-50 headless mausoleum knights and I’ve gotten 3 drops: 1 pair of boots and 2 greatswords, the latter I won’t ever use. Frustrating.
Quick question: the attribute scaling letters, is higher better or vice versa? I see on my cross-naginata that it scales with STR and DEX. . .D for the first and C for the second attribute. Which is better?
D is better than E, C is better than D, etc, up to A. S is better than A.
Yes I just discovered that one tonight. Much, much harder than the two I successfully beat. After 10 tries I almost got him to half health, but then I’m completely out of potions. I don’t think I’m ready for this one yet.

Okay, phew. I feel a little less bad now.
Cool, thanks. I just got Radagon’s Soreseal talisman, so my turtle 'n poke build is feeling buff. I just need to find more smithing stones so I can upgrade my naginata above +4, especially since my toon is 36th level.
