ftfy :D

I heard it’s an easy game, you can finish it in less then an hour… overpriced garbage.

I know right!

So I ended the game with about 9 weapons I was playing with. Some of them were standard weapons with a holy weapon art on them, so you can do rapiers, swords, I did a mace )for crystaline people especially) etc.

  • I think I ended with about 7 weapon arts that had holy on them.
  • I had two natural faith scythes, one which you can get very early in the game which remained a * * *
  • standard weapon until the end.
  • There are many faith swords, and several are dex/faith scaled.
  • There is a fist weapon that you can find pretty early as well that scales only on faith and is ridiculously good… so long as you don’t mind up close and personal.

Trying to be as unspoilery as possible so if you are really interested I can post it in the other thread. But two of the weapons I finished with were ridiculously good, and going into NG+ even at +9 one of them is just a room clearing masterpiece…

Usually the only thing hiding in them is fun jp… just fun…

Let’s play fashion souls! Don’t judge too harshly, this is on remote play from work =)

I found the hookclaws yesterday. So good. I have no idea if they are as useful as the Whip, but it makes me feel so darn cool to use them. I can be Wolverine or Indiana Jones!

Seriously though, if you have the stats for it, I recommend trying both weapons, they are very cool.

Yes, another hookclaw convert! I put the Hoarfrost Stomp art on them so they get frostbite damage and Int scaling (to say nothing of the art itself). If you dual-wield them, most normal enemies will proc both the frost effect and the bleed in less than one combo.

Try the striking type hand weapons like the cestus or the star-fist.
Pummeling guys with fists does some good work, as striking is often more effective against many enemies, and will stagger them.

Um there is and it’s called Hoarfrost Stomp. Completely trivializes the game, I expect it to be nerfed. I think it’s a key component to all the ridiculous speedruns right now.

I am trying to play without it, but it’s tempting. Whenever I see packs of those goddamn dogs, I don’t even bother fighting and I bust it out. Like Indy with his revolver vs the sword guy.

I found an axe with this last night, and it got me through the boss at the Manor. It seems good, but I don’t know that it’s that good. Maybe if I take Barricade off my shield so I don’t have to 2-hand the axe. But that saves me so much, sometimes.

I think it scales with your weapon. Put the ash on your primary weapon. I’ve used it it on my +19 Nightrider Flail.

Actually don’t do this if you want the game to continue to be challenging.

You can just take the Ash off a weapon? I had no idea…

I still haven’t found any axes in the game. But I did find the Axe enhancement talisman as my first talisman that increases the damage on charged moves. I’ve been looking forward to finding an axe since then. I love charged moves in games. Bloodborne had a charged attack, as did other games.

I’m really surprised that I haven’t found any charged attacks since I moved away from my prison’s starting weapon. (The Estoc).

Is thee RT on the Nightrider Flail considered a Charge move?

Oh no, sorry! There’s a separate ash of war. Some weapons, like that axe, have it built in.

Unfortunately I don’t have the stats to wield that weapon yet, so I don’t know.

So, new controller, looks and feels great. Load up EL to test it out, and in the middle of combat, the xbox game bar pops up, with a bunch of widgets…and I died.

Grrrrrr.

Gotcha, that’s what I thought. I haven’t found the stomp on its own yet, then, I don’t think. Bu then I just thought, ‘wait, what happens when I put a new Ash on a weapon that already has one?’ does it free up the one that was on there? And I’ve seen something in the menus about duplicating an Ash. Do you have to actually have the Ash as a separate thing, or can you duplicate one inherent to a weapon? So many systems I haven’t played with.

Speaking of, what’s up with altering garments? I’ve had this kit and needle and menu option for ever, but when I look in that menu there’s nothing there?

As someone said upthread, I’m completely letting the loot I find make my leveling decisions for me in this game. I found a “twinblade” early in the game while exploring, so that’s the only reason I increased my Dex to 18, not because of a plan to invest into Dex weapons.

(Don’t bother, btw, the twinblade is a terrible weapon). On the other hand, now that I have fairly high dex and intelligence, Dex/Int doesn’t seem like a bad path that I inadvertently took. :) I don’t know if FROM actually planned that with the way they distributed loot in the opening areas and were guiding me that way, or if it’s complete luck and I could have found other weapons first that would have led me down a different path.
