So, can someone clarify, are we going with ELdenQT3? QT3? qt3? whats the consensus?

qt3. Lower case.

Thank you! Fixed =)

Yeah, TimJames set the template 18 days ago (launch day), so I followed his lead. And I think others did too.

What’s the ghostly tomb or scroll symbol on the left of my screen mean?

means you can summon aid with the summoning bell

Thoughts on where to go with stats next or if I’ve made a critical mistake thus far?

Vagabond in early 30s, have added points only to Vit, End, Str and Dex and all are currently at 20.

My favorite weapons are ones that scale with both Strength and Dexterity. Now at 20 Endurance I can wear heavier armor and carry a melee weapon, a shield and a crossbow all without exceeding Medium Load. Vitality being Vitality.

Do you want to cast spells? If so, you may want to beef up Int or Faith and Mind.

If you wanna stick with melee stuff, then Endurance is always useful, as it boosts your stamina while also making you able to wear heavier armor, which can make you super tanky.

No such thing. You can respec later on, but your stats are very much in line with what I would do for a quality build (str/dex weapons with split scaling).

I get the arguments that some weapons trivialize the game, but goddamn I’ve been plinking away at enemies with my uchigitana for 30 hours, and now I have an uber weapon and just destroying monsters I used to run away from is so satisfying.

You can’t simply drop that and not tell us which uber-weapon you snagged!

Ha, it’s the Bloodhounds Fang from the Forlorn Hound Evergaol.

So after like 60 hours in I just realized there is a whole area to the south. I have been going north all this time. I am kinda over leveled but there are some nice goodies here, although the mini-bosses have really easy.

But man I am an idiot.

You need to pay more attention to these two threads too! We’ve been mentioning the easy Southern Peninsula since launch day! :)

Funny enough, we’ve upgraded our uchigitana so much that no other weapon we pick up at this point compares. I do wish there was a more consistent way to accrue smithing stones. Once you clear the mines where they grow on the walls, the pickings seem to get pretty slim.

I’m level 122 and am having trouble with some near end game bosses. My weapon is max upgraded, so I can’t improve there. I know I’ve missed at least one zone - possibly another. Would it even help much to gain any more levels? When I level up my weapon stat (Dex), I only do another 4 points of damage. I’ve got endurance at 50 and vigor at 40, so I think I’m good there. It just doesn’t seem like leveling will help too much and that I just need to practice until I get by this boss, right?

No, the levels mean very little in Souls games.

In Bloodborne I was surprised at how much it helped. There was one boss in the DLC I spent a few months trying to defeat before finally giving up. And then I went to an area for an hour and leveled up a few times, and came back maybe 10 levels higher. And suddenly the same boss fight was way too easy and I felt I cheated myself out of a good fight.

Why? Because each level up you not only put one meaningless point in some stat, you also gain resistance. So instead of the boss being able to hit me twice before I went down, now she had to hit me about 4 times, which gave me much more time to back off and drink a health potion, and it made the fight really easy.

I don’t know if Elden Ring is the same way, but in Bloodborne it made a huge difference. (None of the 10 levels were spent on health. My health remained the same, but each level up gives you resistance to everything).

Smithing stones (up to a point?) become purchasable via some quest/mechanics/shenanigans of which I don’t recall any details.

I do agree it is hard to compare the relative value/quality of a newly found weapon against one in which you’ve invested a ton of stones. I let youtubers tell me which weapons to keep.

I suddenly had a huge influx of smithing stones so my claymore is like 15 suddenly, it’s better for raw damage than my bloodhound fang rn. Also I met Rhadan- what an asshat. Playing on Xbox I’m not really noticing too many issues with fps/graphics but one thing that is not up to snuff is the loading times. They’re like 10 seconds too long! Hopefully they get that sorted somehow.
