Forum effect is very strong on this one. Everyone having lots of fun. Even…casuals.

You will like it, and then after you’ve played it a while, you will look up and realize maybe you’re not a casual anymore.

It’s actually the dog’s ;)

I have a controller but for games like this I’d rather use a keyboard and mouse. I do have a 5 button gaming mouse. Is that a viable playstyle?

I found a group of 3 beings near a telescope in first area. I started slaughtering them, but the third is cowering and now I feel bad! Was I not supposed to attack them?

Also, when on horses do you lock target your enemies, or not?

Funny you should mention that. I was just in a courtyard about 15 minutes ago and there were a bunch of those same guys doing gardening. Previously I’ve just slaughtered everyone, but I left these guys alone. I’ve concluded the unarmed guys gathering ruin fragments or otherwise grubbing in the dirt are basically just serfs.

One of my few complaints about the game is it doesn’t really do a good job motivating why we are there killing almost everything that moves. Right at the start there’s a bunch of clearly human soldiers that we are meant to kill. Why are we doing this? Who are they? What have they done to us that we need to kill them?

Well, if they see you, they’ll start killing you… Maybe that’s motivation enough? :)

My favourite moments are coming across 2 groups fighting each other. I just intervene enough to keep the battles even.

Well maybe, but maybe they’re just guarding their camp and some heavily armed guy rides up with his goat-horse and they think, this isn’t good I hope he keeps his distance, but he doesn’t so they reluctantly move to defend their encampment.

I haven’t killed anything yet in the game that’s not hostile to me. Heck, when I read from this thread that you can kill things like birds and turtles and sheep and get ingredients from them, I went in with the intention of killing them, but I just couldn’t do it. They’re just innocent animals. I don’t want want to cross that threshold for some reason. The one that really tested me were these really ugly looking turtle things in the swamp. That one tested me.

“Oh, so you’re going to kill it just because it’s ugly and doesn’t conform to your idea of an animal?”

I left it alone. For now.

But I have my eye on you ugly turtles.

The games have seemingly innocent characters who if the opportunity presents will attack you. I have had the gardeners in the Royal Academy attack me while I was fighting those damn sorcerers.

As for animals, you can make fire and poison arrows using their bones. Sorry, but I can’t complain about killing sheep while munching a burger.

I love burgers. But that’s real life.

In Elden Ring, I’m role playing a vegetarian.

I’m role playing an archer. :)

Apologies if this has been asked recently. Been avoiding this thread to avoid spoilers.

I’ve been waiting a few weeks (plenty of other things to play) and am now faced with what system to get this for. 3080, PS5 or XSX? Found one article saying ps5 was best back when it came out. How about now? I already know PC would involve modding fuckery for ultra wide. Thanks for opinions.

Fuuuuuuuug. Nothing like losing all 6,000 runes before getting to level up in the beginning hours of the game. I thought the game said you wouldn’t die if you jump while on your horse no matter how far you fall? And that was my second fall before recapturing my runes. Is there a fast way to regain them? I’m still roaming Limgrave.

Speaking of which. What was the point of using my horse to jump up to the earthen pedestals at the beach? Is there something I was supposed to find up there?

Yeah, I’ve been thinking that this game is really the epitome of the OG D&D ‘murder hobo’ mindset. You travel around looking threatening, barge into inhabited places you clearly aren’t wanted, and kill everything in sight in ‘self defense’.

Also, it’s interesting how every mine has those stone guys doing the mining, and then another race pretty obviously being the ‘overseers’. They’re some super exploited folks, those stone guys. But they attack you like anyone else, so down they go to my Flail.

This is only in the case of those swirly spring winds. No matter how high you go up and then fall, no damage. If you fall from any height but manage to land in or very near one, no damage.

Not sure how much radius you get when falling to one; one time I was surprised I didn’t die and another time I was downright shocked that I did, I swear that spring was 2 steps away.

Depends on what you’re comfortable killing. My early game farming spot was

the 5 trolls near the warmaster’s shack

which got me 5k runes in about 3.5 minutes, easily repeatable. I did that whenever I was near a level in the beginning because I was more averse to losing runes then.

Heh, I’m still farming those trolls and I’m 49th level. For my low-dps build I’ve yet to find a better source of rune income for the time spent.

It’s kind of bizarre that the easy southern peninsula is easy because the game doesn’t do anything at all to point you down there. The whole thrust of it is aimed at Stormveil.

The whole upgrade system is pretty annoying. I wish you could transfer upgrades between weapons like you can ashes.

Where is warmasters shack?

Any tips for a sword and shield character to taking those trolls out?

BTW I still can’t find where to put “QT3” in for my game on my PS5. Or is that not a thing on the PlayStation network? Or maybe I’m blind lol.
