I don’t know which one he found but I know of one: Just south of the Warmasters shack, before you get to the trolls. At night, there will be a bird boss that appears there.

Oh shit. Uh. I meant little dudes wearing dark clothing. :P

I know that area, the little dark-clothed dudes always get me, hyper-aggressive. If you fight two of them at once, you are already done…
I’m at the last boss! I’ll have to learn the move set of course, and try a few things - I’m not really getting close so far, but I only tried three or four times before I had to get to work, and I haven’t tried summoning anyone yet either. So I have some option.
75 hours and level 145, but I have a few (optional) areas I have not really explored yet, so I may pivot and come back later. On the other hand, I really should get back to Horizon while it’s still mostly fresh in my head so I can wrap that up, as well, at some point.

I’m 70 hours and like Level 68…there might be some idle time in there, and I’m exploring very thoroughly.
Yeah, my save game says 66 hours or something like that but Steam shows 75, so I’m not sure which is the most accurate. Sometimes I quit out and it’s still shows as running and the HDR doesn’t auto-off for a bit, so maybe it’s less. I was pretty thorough and I did a lot of NPC quests (almost all of which I needed guide/walkthrough to figure out). I felt like I was making incredible progress though, tackling many bosses on my first try (the key is to NOT panic and also make certain you have your sword out when you mean to have your sword out, and not your mage staff), and generally finding a lot of value in the white messages folks left behind, as well as summoning a stranger when I needed help (that was mostly in the first half of my play time).
I’m sure this massive game (which has already blown me away in terms of content) has a lot of amazing secrets I missed, but I plan on doing another play through in the not to distant future. I’m skipping the optional/secret area that seems so much harder than the run to the main story boss was, for example, but I may dive into it rather than start a NG+ (something I don’t really like to do anyway).
Man, I spent the evening having my ass handed to me while exploring Caelid. I guess I am level 60ish at this stage and was taking a break from Liurnia. Some of the bosses there hit like trucks, even though I didn’t do too badly clearing some camps/mines and uncovering some maps and grace sites.
10/10 will die again.
Slowly plodding along. Watched some vids on getting the Meteorite Staff and the Lazuli sword; got both. Trying to get used to using them, which seems to require the sword in the right hand and staff in the left, in order to use the sword’s spell art on LT while keeping Meteor Swarm on LB; RB and RT and plain old poke and power hit, respectively. Neither weapon can take any ashes I have (if ever) and the staff can’t be upgraded I don’t think but it is great early on.
Armor, though, man, nothing I’ve found is better than the crappy starting Astrologer rags.

Such as? Answer in spoiler thread if necessary.

A thing I did not know for too long was that, on horseback, your left-click swings your weapon to the right side of your horse and the right-click swings to the left.

This is more along the line with my experience. When someone said within dungeons, that is not something I have seen. The night bosses are pretty cool and a nice addition. I also like the weather/ash/sun affects on the environment. daylight and weather play off each other nicely in this game.

Does anyone know if you 100% block damage from an attack if you also block 100% of the poise damage?

I believe you still take poise damage, but less so if you are using a great shield rather then medium or buckler. I have no proof of that, it just “feels” right.
I definitely notice that using a great shield has a lot more attacks bouncing off of it as well then a medium shield.

Having dumped a bunch of points into making a quality build, I now wish I’d gone strength/faith. I pretty much use the sacred ashes all the time and love it. And there are some really nice faith incantations I want that require much faith. Oh well, I’ll survive until I can respec.

Does that hold true if you have a shield in your left hand? When I’ve been using R1 it swings on the right side of my horse.
Had my first major victory last night beating Dariwill in his Forlorn Hound Evergaol. Probably close to 20 attempts before beating him (no summons) and WOW! The Bloodhound’s Fang is definitely going to be my go-to weapon for a while I’m thinking.
Flush with that success I pressed my luck down in Weeping Peninsula all the way down in Castle Morne. Glad I consulted a walkthru before vacating the premises because I almost missed out on another big boss and another great sword!
Am level 39 now; also spent my last couple points leveling Intelligence up to 12 so I could play a bit with the Demi-Human Queen’s staff and a couple low level Glintstone spells. Just a curiosity for now but fun nevertheless.
Whatever is in your left hand goes on your back when you get on Torrent. R1 and R2 swing to your right. L1 and L2 swing the same weapon to your left. (Light and Heavy attacks). The Heavy attacks are worth checking out. They are different than when you’re not on your horse.

I really hate that I couldn’t figure this out on my own. What a huge help!
