Eh. As I mentioned before, I have it (inherent) on an axe. It’s nice. It’s helped me win a few fights. I have a different cold Ash on my flail. It’s fine, too. What I want is a fire weapon/ash. Are there any around? Hopefully I’ll find one soon. I did find what seems to be a fire weapon incantation, but it’s faith-based, and I’ve already diversified my stats enough, dammit. Unfortunately that seems to also be the case for the Dragon powers. I’m sitting on 3 or 4 of these hearts, but all the powers require Faith. Meh.
I’m almost level 50! And just beat Renalla. Onwards to the Capitol! If I don’t get distracted first. Wasn’t I supposed to go meet the wolf dude in the River area?
That’s been my loadout for most of the game, with Int primary and Dex secondary stat. Once I realized how broken it was I’ve been forcing myself to use other things. I even took the Hoarfrost Stomp off my flail so I wouldn’t be tempted.
The Nightrider Flail is still a beast, though. Strike weapon with bleed, so it’s good against literally everything.

Can I get attain that weapon at level 20?

I’m at doctors office but going to watch your video when I get home.
I found the Hoarfrost Stomp a couple if days ago and put it on my Flail. I almost feel guilty using it, almost. Being a bad player I need all the help i can get. 70 hours, level 60 and still die to trash mobs :)
Yes… but you need to kill the Nightrider near Castle Morne. He’ll spawn at night near the Grace point with the merchant, at night. Do the fight on horseback. I did it around level 20 but it took forever, I wasn’t doing much damage at all. If he’s too hard, level up some and try again.

Don’t give a shit about your XP you lost. Who cares? Worrying about that kind of thing generally just fucks you up.

If you are looking for help, you don’t need to create anything, right? You just need to use the finger stuff and then click on the golden names on the ground? I may be misunderstanding what you’re doing.

If you’re having trouble with that guy, tell him to piss off and go exploring. You don’t NEED to beat him.
I’m level 100, and I died to a god damn rat last night. Just wasn’t paying attention, and got swarmed.
At no point do trash mobs ever stop being dangerous, no matter what.
I’m level 82, rode my horse into a pack of deadite losers in Limgrave, just passing through mind you looking for that Warmaster shack I missed. Wiffed my swing, got stuck next to a dead tree and the 3 trash mobs all beat me down like instantly. That felt shameful.

It’s also super common for me to die to trash mobs, while I’m running back to fight a boss or something, rushing past the “trash” that I don’t want to waste my time on… often to pick up souls or something.

You have to craft the fingers, which require those elderflowers or whatever they’re called… the orangey-yellow ones.
Those are abundant in the starting area. They’re so common I don’t know why they bothered making them craftable.

Fuckin rats, man.
@Balasarius I don’t know what time zone you’re in or if there’s a limit to how upgraded you can be for password co-op but I’ll help you with Margit. Dude was tough.
Ignore the XP, it’s just stress. Use your own summons as well. Upgrade them! Upgrade your weapon. Let the summons tank a bit and (really!->) button smash him down just to see his bar goes down for ones. It helps to see he does give a fuck ; ) The imps or that jellyfish do a nice job there. But at least the imps should be level 2.

there is a talisman, that will let you keep your runes, but will break on death. Like ye olde ring of sacrifice. If you have many runes in the boss area, you could use that…

This game really has a different gameplay paradigm than you may be used to. It’s even somewhat different than other Souls games.
- You’re expected to spend a bunch of your gameplay actually exploring rather than trying to advance the “story”. If you get stuck, go somewhere else. The world is open in a way few open worlds are. You can go anywhere.
- You’re expected to lose all of your runes often. Death is inevitable. Runes are cheap and easy. The only time you should care about your runes is when you’re deliberately trying to push levels or buy something. Definitely expect to lose them all when you attempt a boss fight. Expect that every fog door you cross will result in your death.
- The game rewards careful, meticulous, exhaustive exploration of its environments. Take your time. Explore every nook and cranny. Take notes so you can go back if a place is too hard.
- If you try to fight a boss a few times and aren’t even close to beating it, go explore. Level up. Upgrade your weapons. Banging your head against the wall isn’t going to make it work.
Am I missing something with the summons? How to summon another player to help with a boss? I first mistakenly identified myself as wanting to BE summoned and that was actually pretty cool; definitely will try that again. But when I used the finger that said to invite summons I wrote something on the ground and I waited and waited and when I check the ground I can choose to cancel but nobody showed up. I even went through the veil to see if they were waiting on the other side - nope.

This is what those usable runes you find are for imo.
See a fog wall.
Backtrack to the nearest grace and burn whatever usable runes you have in inventory to get enough to spend all your runes and level.
Go into the fog wall with basically no runes on you.
The one thing I do wish is that the rune items told you how many they gave you. There is a pattern that they immediately throw out the window (200/400/800/1200/1600/etc) and there are like literally 20 variations. There is almost no way to remember them all and the only time you can see the values is at a merchant, which tend to not be in the middle of dungeons.
Edit: Granted sometimes this plan isn’t possible, but generally there is a way to get to a boss without too much horsecrap and it’s usually worth it to spend the runes and also find that fast way back (ie there is probably a shortcut you’ve missed if it isn’t immediately obvious).
Also, try throwing down your summoning sign near a boss door so you can practice and help other players. I always try to put mine down. I figure if I want to summon, I should help people myself. It’s like seeding a torrent. If you win you get runes and a rune arc, and if you lose just just respawn where you were summoned from and can do it again.

Maybe you’re using the wrong finger? I think you want the Furled Finger. When I use it, it just sprinkles stuff in the air; doesn’t write anything on the ground. And then a few seconds later I start to see gold signs on the ground. Also, I think if you’re in a group or have set a password, that might limit the signs you see.
