Wow I just noticed something amazing!

Using the Banished Knights Halberd +8, 2 strong strikes in a row will always bring a giant troll to his knees. What are other weapons, ashes, or styles that will do this reliably? I’m not really a halberd person, but would like something with less windup that could do this.

Rating a message poor is the same as rating it good, it heals the person who wrote it. My most successful message is in a dungeon where you climb down a ladder and then get ambushed by one of those iron maiden enemies. People get freaked out and run back to the ladder and are instead met with my “Time for ladder, but didn’t expect message…” message since climb ladder and read message are tied to the same key. Has almost 200 poor ratings and about 50 good ratings. I get healed every time.

The L2 + R2 weapon art on the Moonveil Katana will do that. Less often than it did prior to being nerfed, but it still happens.

Haha, figures! All engagement is good engagement I guess

I would imagine most colossal weapons would be similar, but you’re going to have windups with heavy attacks on big weapons that stagger people more often than not.

You know, I think I remember that from the other DS games but I had forgotten it. Thanks for the reminder.

I have no doubt people can. I would suspect that most people who do so though only see 30% of the game on the first trip through. Great for those who want to replay or do tons of NG+ runs. Completionists will either go insane, burn out, or eventually cave and look stuff up for fear of missing out.

I think you could easily see 70% just from poking around. Shit like the cave I did today, though, you are not going to find (probably) without a guide or being insanely dedicated. I don’t know how anyone found this place.

Wait what? You can press both at same time for an attack?!

Unlike normal weapon skills, L2 sheathes Moonveil, and R1 triggers a horizontal slash, R2 triggers the vertical slash (which I believe does more damage).

The r1 sheathe attack is a horizontal wave that can damage multiple opponents, while the R2 is a vertical that usually just catches the one.

Weird. I’ve had three crashes in as many minutes when trying to play tonight.

I got feathers for days! Craft throwing darts from animal bones and use them to take down birds from a dozen paces away. You won’t scrare them all away and they mostly won’t fall off the cliff.

I just get them from my horse. Get an angle on the group in a line, gallop in holding RT- I use the ol’ Nightrider Flail, but an axe/sword works, too. The horse doesn’t startle them as much, it seems, and you can get several (all in a group of 3, for example) easily.

I started my low-level Vergil cosplay PvP character. I have the permanent bloody finger for invasions. The funny thing is the starting area is ALL gank squads with even more cheese than me. Basically two buddies with endgame gear waiting for all the invaders to come straight to them. They’re not higher level than I am due to the matchmaking rules but it’s kind of ridiculous when I’m getting stunlocked to death with Rivers of Blood. Haha!

I went a few steps over to the Gatefront Ruins and it’s excellent PvP. Lots of deer in headlights but it’s two of them so it’s an even fight! I’ll take it!

Starscourge down.

I finally got the map piece I’d been hunting for hours, felt great. Looks like the only way to reach it was to kill a particularly nasty creature that had scared me away the first time, but I think it might be possible to bypass it with care.

And now that I think about it I’m pretty sure I didn’t even look at the map as I’m fairly confident I’ve scoured this area quite thoroughly. It’ll be interesting to see what, if anything, I managed to miss. Bound to be something, I guess. I’ve been shocked at how blatant a path I’ve missed before. The game really does the whole exploration gameplay fantastically well.

Congrats! That was one of the most painful fights I’ve been in. Which weapon did you use?

I am very much not enjoying the capitol. I’ve opened up multiple ladder shortcuts, multiple locked doors, and still have no idea where I’m supposed to be going or what I’m even looking for. All the architecture is samey and I can’t hold images in my head so the only way I can make my way around is by walking a path often enough to memorize it.

Melina thanked me for getting her to the base of the Erdtree but as far as I know I haven’t seen it. Not a big fan of the confusion, but eventually I’ll spend enough time here to figure out where I haven’t been.

You ain’t seen nothing yet. A couple small hints:

  • You want to make your way kind of across the city. You should see an opening in the Erdtree in the distance. Try to figure out how to get there. Head to the rooftops to plan out a path.
  • Separately, make sure you fully explore underground, and that means everything. Look for even more access points.
