I took down the aforementioned Burger Kings on the stairs with a bow. Was having none of their bullshit.

Oh this is great, thank you. I’ve been looking for a better staff and there’s one not too far away.

How does the range of the bow compare to magic? Any different?

Yup that totally worked, thank you!

Need to have a staff equipped I think.

What I love about Elden Ring, it lets you create little adventures. Yesterday I wanted to kill some mid boss in a cave, but I wanted to try out fire arrows on some poisonious plants outside, so I went to a place where there was a merchant selling a cookbook. But on my way to the vendor I found a cave entrance, which got me even more distracted and had a second part to it. And my little adventure went on and on, until I finally went back to my original boss… since this is not the spoiler thread, I left out a lot of specifics. But boy, was it a satisfying session.

If it is like the other games different type bows will have different ranges. I have been in a fight with two mages and their magic went further than my arrows.

ER’s open world is basically the right method of “make your own fun” open-worldery.

You set your own challenge. Feel like mowing down hapless mobs after a shite day at work? You can do that. Feel like mooching around a little and seeing how a new enemy type will break your bones for future reference? Do it. Want to go total ADD on some boss and spend 50 lives trying to kill it? Have fun.

Can you go to the island in the SW corner of the map? I know I drowned my horse near there so I am guessing not.

“Try fingers; but hole”

You can. I can tell you how, or I can give you a very general pointer, which is really explore the beach, then if you find something don’t be so quick to think you’re done with it.

This is assuming I’m thinking of the same SW island as you.

Where do you get fire arrows? Or, is it a crafting recipe?

I took out the first cave mini boss with 10 straight arrows and he never got close to me…so I really need some more powerful arrows as I see the advantage to them now.

This probably belongs in the spoiler thread but I’m not setting a single foot in there until I’ve finished the game. If you’re past the first “real checkpoint,” i.e. the second major boss fight, and have gone to the R- H- you should be good to unspoiler this.

But I really was not at all expecting the whole Two Fingers thing to be quite so…literal.

yes fire arrows are a crafting material, but you need a cookbook [2] first

For what it’s worth, the spoiler thread isn’t too bad, and most people are smart enough to be respectful. There are one or two things I would’ve preferred not to see beforehand, but on the balance I’m happy to follow the discussion.

Not saying you should join it. More of a general statement for anyone curious.

You can craft them.

There are vendors as well.

I would agree. So far the spoiler thread isn’t too bad, and to be real these games require help in understanding how stuff works.

Physics applies (sort of). On the whole, they have a longer range and can be fired reliably without lock on (using the 1st person crosshairs). Same as you remember from previous souls games.

Maybe the cave that keeps going after the boss fight?
