Might want to look at this minor hint then!
Maybe that’s the sad sack you’re talking about though? I haven’t found another yet.

It’s not, they are separate people.
I was going to save magic for a second playthrough but all you douchebags are making me rethink my “melee guy” character choice. If there’s one thing I love doing in From games it’s abandoning builds partway through! Can’t believe there’s no pyromancer.

He literally pops out of the ground so you have to almost walk over his location. He is east of the eastern road.

Look to the east part of the map, below some ruins.

A mage sells the only pyromancy I have seen.
Talk to the NPC at the north end of that road first, just south of the bridge. Also, that’s not the end of the castle. Keep searching after your chat.
The first merchant sells a clue.

Just tested it and it is a game changer. I will definitely be going for this asap on my next character. It should make the big knights much more manageable.
I thought the incantations covers this pretty well. There’s a bunch of different flame spells in that line.
Sorry yeah there’s a big forest. You’ll see it on the map. You might not have explored that part yet.
It works fine and it looks great, partly because you can’t play that way online, so all the trashy glowing graffitti and lurching ghost animations are gone! But also because you don’t have to play inside a square anymore:
You have to edit two filenames to switch back to online mode with its narrow view, but it’s relatively easy to change back and forth. I hopped online and had some guys help me beat Magritte shortly after taking that screenshot up there.

nice, lots of stamina there so you can keep swinging your weapon.

It is wonderous. I was thinking of upgrading my shield to a special one, but I just don’t think I can give up the Barricade. its too good.
I’m wondering if there’s a mechanic I’m missing, the only Souls game I ever played was Demon and that only for a few hours. I didn’t have as much patience with failure back then.
I bought Glintstone Barrage, with FP 14 (2). I don’t know what the 2 in parentheses means. What I do know is, even if all of the barrage shards hit the same target it does about half the damage that my starting Pebble spell does and Pebble is FP 7 and casts faster. Is there a point to the barrage spell I haven’t figured out?

From my limited testing Crystal barrage is pure trash, even when all the fragments hit the target.
Man this game delivers surprises in spades. Went to check out on a merchant and got a mini boss encounter instead.
I guess Siofra is not part of the starter area. Ouch! At least I took some cool pictures standing on some marvelous pillars in the sky beneath the earth. Such a cool location! Unfortunately all my screenshots I have ever made seem to be broken. I reckon it has something to do with HDR and Windows. Any idea how to fix this?
You said it. I can’t wait to get home. And this weekend we’re taking our first vacation since before the pandemic, on a road trip to St. Louis. Gah! Such bad timing! I can’t play all weekend!
Yeah, I mentioned this upthread a bit with my own grey/washed out images, but having HDR enabled creates this effect as Steam is capturing the pre-HDR render you aren’t seeing. Someone once told me that the Microsoft Game Overlay can take screenshots that look normal (it ignores HDR and takes them like they would look if you didn’t have it enabled) but I haven’t tried it yet. I just take them off my phone.
I keep meaning to play more Horizon Forbidden West as my intention was to bounce back and forth between these when I needed a break from Elden Ring. I haven’t needed (or wanted) a break from Elden Ring in like a day and a half, so I have to really try Horizon tonight so I don’t lose the thread there.
