It’s the best thing, large amounts of unique content for explorers to fight, with not much in the way of grinding repetition. So far at least!

I made a naked person to begin…figured I liked all the talents and wanted them all at 10. I’m not a PVP’er, who cars. But, I’m heavily into Dex and Faith now with excellent bow damage and spell damage…need to get that 100% shield so I can do I bit of melee If i have to but love picking off enemies from camps and taking them out one by one…assassin style. Bosses, nope, not doing those yet.

The ones with the string are meant to be used while you are running and being chased. You drop them to “bomb” the guy who is chasing you. Try just using the simplier version, it will do what you want.

That was the first boss I fought. :)

Flasks get refilled when you kill groups of enemies. I haven’t quite figured it out, since doesn’t seem to be all together reliable. Also apparently number (and type?) of flasks refilled apparently is dependent on the enemy.

But the basic idea is, as you’re wandering around the world, if you’re far from a “Grace Point”, you can just take out groups of 3-4 enemies and use the automatically refueling you get to keep going.

You’ll notice this happens when you kill the last enemy of the group and you’ll get a different red swirly cloud of dust that’s different than the normal “runes earned” dust.

Yea, tutorial boss isn’t worth much. The only way (getting a message rated will heal you) to really heal is using the flask or resting at a Sign of Grace, or whatever they call bonfires. Same with FP. Now get out there in the real world and kick some ass.

Yea, I gotta remember that.

So I went into Stormveil and that place is a bit of a maze. My first trip in I missed another Grace Point and later died. But there are so many options here. I saw a fog door from above but couldn’t figure out how to get down to it.

It’s kind of crazy how the game is open world and then you get into areas and it’s like you’re playing Dark Souls 4 and the map geography just blends together like it’s the first game perfectly.

Likewise, I was like… wait what?

Now I’m gonna end up back in the starting area again scouring every inch (again) looking for this.

Stormveil is very much like entering Lothric Castle for the first time, or Anor Londo.

Although this game is much friendlier with the bonfires, for the most part.

This game never ends! I played for 3 hours and barely put a dent into the map.

You know I wonder how true the assertion, made a couple of times, that eventually your forward progress is gated by a boss really is. It is possible to just…go around Stormveil. I found it by accident while exploring (although I went back and cleared the castle).

I thought it referred to the Groveside Cave near the start, the ‘wolf cave’. And the ‘bird-thing’ was maybe a misidentification of the Beastman of Farum Azula, who looks kinda birdy?

If not, I missed it too. :)

This entire Twitter thread is solid gold

Ah okay, that makes sense.

Am I missing the capability to remove single markers from the map? Seems I can place individual markers, but I only have an option to remove all of them, instead of only one at a time?

You have to select the marker as if you’re going to place it.
Then you have to pick the same marker that you want to delete.
An option to “remove marker” will appear after you do that.

Or you can just select them, replace them with the first marker and remove the first marker.

It’s kind of weird, but it works once you get the hang of it.

I’m reminded as I play that no one at From Software seems to have ever seen a dog or understands anything about dog physiology.

“Dogs have swords on the sides of their heads.”
“They can body check you and kill you like they weigh a ton.”
“Canines attack things by flailing wildly at them and murdering them with incidental nudges from their heads, which they can do 4-5 times per second.”

Like playing with a dog is guaranteed to result in severe injury or death according to them.

Their dogs are like big cats if big cats were cyborgs covered in spikes.

I went that way a couple days ago after running into the roadblock at the castle entry. But you would miss so much if you skipped the castle.
