Yeah, that helps a bit. Thanks : )

I’ll tell you what I’m a fan of: She is almost 60 years old and still starring in action roles. You Go Ming-Na Wen!

Thanks @Scuzz, @tomchick, and @newbrof. I got them working. It didn’t seem to do much damage, but I suppose it’s probably dependent on the specific enemy they’re used on.

The 90s called, they want their SNES game TV ad back.

I swear that punk-ass, bitch-face Margit is going down tonight

You’re definitely behind the upgrade curve. Have you reached the place where you can upgrade beyond +3? I don’t remember the trigger for taking you to that location.

Regarding tree sentinel, I spent about 30 minutes trying to beat him at the start, all out of spite. Naturally, I had him down to two hits left the first try and then struggled with him from there. It was fun so I’m actually glad I didn’t kill him the first try.

I did but I don’t think I have any of the proper level somber stones. I haven’t checked in a bit.

Ugh, Tree Sentinel was one of the last bosses I could take in Limgrave/that big island to the south.

Think it went Tree Sentinel 3rd to last, Dragon 2nd to last (I may have been able to do it, but I was stubborn in trying to have the samurai summon help out which means no horse - finally went with the horse and got him)/last guy standing is the Knight in one of those summon circles. I’ve killed the first Elden Ring Demi-god, but the Knight still stands. I might try him again tonight.

Oh is that upgrade path not on the +15 scale like normal? Maybe you’re fine then?

Somber Smithing Stones are for legendary (named) weapons. Smithing Stones are the more common ones and are for regular weapon upgrades. I found myself missing the Smithing Stones (3) for a long time and when I finally got some I went from +2 to like +6 just from all the other higher end stones I did have.

I am 2 stones short of getting my +2 great sword to +3. Supposedly the soldiers walking the woods will drop them, but not for.

Gah, anyone else getting frequent crashes since yesterday’s update? I’ve been using a mod to enable ultrawide support, but I don’t think that’s what’s causing it. It’s probably not helping, but I was getting crashes even before the mod.

On the upside, seems the stuttering is gone because it’s been replaced by outright crashing. So there’s that.

Crashing is just a permanent stutter. Are you sure you are not just rage quitting instead?

Crashing is way easier than rage quitting! Like so many things in Elden Ring, rage quitting involves multiple unnecessary steps:

  1. Go to menu and select “Quit”.
  2. Verify to the dialog option that, yes, I do want to quit.
  3. Get logged out and returned to the main menu.
  4. “Press any button.”
  5. Wait to sign in so I can select “quit” from the menu.
  6. Select “Quit”.
  7. Very to the dialog option that, yes, I still want to quit.

By that point, my rage has usually subsided and now I’m just “quitting” instead of “rage quitting”, and there’s no satisfaction in that. So the crashes are a handy alternative to rage quitting.

For step 3 you can just hit alt-f4 then you can still properly rage quit.

Had the weirdest thing happen just now. Suddenly clicking the right stick didn’t target anything. This was REALLY bad, especially as I had a bunch of skeleton dudes coming at me and I’m a damned caster. I’ll reload the game and see if it works again but DAMN that was offputting.

Alt+F4 mid game - be sure to use middle fingers only!

Having fun as an Astrologer who is completely ignorant of the world and just discovering whatever he discovers. In my role playing mind he woke up and the world had gone crazy and he’s walking around trying to figure it all out. Not a mental stretch.

I did think when I saw the Tree Sentinal so soon, OK, I’m meant to take him out, just hit him with my spells and dodge when he comes racing by on his horse and then hit him in the back, that huge axe or sword he has must be slow and bulky. Whoops. Tried again, thinking OK, I stink at this but I’m just missing the “trick” (but not before picking up my dead guy runes) and quick death again. Hmmm. Walk around, oh look, those little shiny artifacts on that fallen wall regenerate, cool. One more try and I decided, fine, I like that the game allows me to just skip him for now.

Almost shot magic spells at the merchant but decided to get close enough to see him better, and glad he was a rare friendly face. Couldn’t afford much more than a better shield and a crafting kit, which he recommended, but it felt like progress.

I can tell that I’m going to get a lot of hours out of this, and then will hit a spot where I either become obsessed or decide it’s not for me. But I expect at least 10 or more hours before that.

While I’m avoiding guides for this first run through, I do think I’ll try to figure out where the meteoric staff is; hopefully not gated behind a bunch of things I’m too weak to do.

it’s hard for me to quit, not rage quit, just quit. Because I just enjoy exploring, fighting, finding mysteries. No crashes so far, Level 26, still Limgrave. And I found the Artist’s shack … haha From, never change.

There’s quite the shortcut to it. There’s a trap nearby, in the ruins at the lake, that teleports you close to it. Well, as long as you manage to run out of that tunnel. Then it should be easy to obtain.
