Oh, sorry. I should have told you that I own and have played just about every Wild West-based shooter I can find. I was more or less looking for RPGs.

I will say that Red Dead Revolver and ESPECIALLY Red Dead Redemption are my favorite westerns by far. Jesus, Red Dead 2 was a surprise. I never expected that much love and care go into it. The characters, story, dialogue, and the amazing gameplay all added up to a game I will never forget. The Zombie DLC was hilarious and awesome as well! Just wish we got a PC ver. of it.

Yeah no PC version is rough. I don’t have a console in my apt due to the lack of other interested parties, or I would and it would be awesome.

Side note, very soon time for this shit to launch.

Is anyone a little concerned that we haven’t seen any footage outside of the 360? I want this on the PC but my concern is either they will port this directly over and it will have terrible textures/pop-in issues and a clumsy interface with a mouse that doesn’t even support hardware acceleration, or something equally horrible. I hope we get to hear more about the PC version soon.

I’m also wondering (though only as a curiosity) why we haven’t seen the PS3 version, as well. It seems sort of odd. I get the 360 was probably the lead platform, and I’m sure the PS3 version will look very much the same, but still. Odd.

I can only postulate (pull assumptions out of my ass), but I wouldn’t put it past Microsoft to pay for some exclusivity when it comes to first looks and previews for a game this hyped. If such an arrangement exists, perhaps other screens and details and such will be released closer to launch.

Do they really pay for that, though? If anything, I’d guess the dominance of 360 shots is because that is likely where the largest chunk of sales for the game will come from and we’ve seen developers move away from showing the “best” version in recent years in favor of the most popular platform version. And most of the previews articles are relying on screenshots provided by Bethesda for what they can use. I can see MS getting DLC first and stuff like that, though.

I just remembered I read that tomorrow GTV or whatever (Gametrailers) is supposed to have Todd Howard on showing off 6 all new minutes of game footage, and an “announcement” of some sort. Maybe they’ll finally talk about the PC version.

Dunno, but I wouldn’t put it past them.

I have no idea if that’s even available via Time Warner here in western Ohio.

Yeah, RDR was pretty awesome. I only played about 3 hours into it, was a borrowed copy but have it on my to buy list, will eventually play it. But there really aren’t any western RPGs and that needs to change. RDR is probably the closest thing to one.

John, sorry - to be clear, the announcement was on Gametrailers.com, so that’s (I assume) where the actual event or whatever will be. I believe the have some sort of show on their site called GTV or something, and it’s during that episode we’ll get the Skyrim stuff, plus some Soul Calibur V stuff, too.

Ah, gotcha. Thanks for the info, I’ll look for it tomorrow night.

Spike shows GameTrailers TV with Jeff Keighley around midnight. I don’t know what day, I just have the DVR set to record new eps but you could also check there.

Yeah, I just read up on this - GTTV (Gametrailers TV) airs on Spike at about midnight or 12:30am (CST) - so 10pm PST.

It is then available on Gametrailers.com at some point, I assume the next morning (Friday morning), which is when I’ll be watching it as I’m certain to forget to DVR it and I’m definately not staying up passed midnight! :)

Right now I’m debating waiting for GOTY and Jason’s mega-mod pack before purchasing. Still have Deus Ex, Dragon Age 2, and Mass Effect 2 to finish, and a bunch of DLC for New Vegas to try. Stupid backlog. It’s hard to want to buy this day one with Bethesda’s infamous buggy releases and the present danger of another vanilla Oblivion with better graphics on our hands.

I can wait for the flood of Skyrim mods. I have Dark Souls, Batman, Uncharted and Assassin’s Creed to keep me busy.

Eh, I must be one of the few who felt vanilla Oblivion was pretty solid. I certainly would not have wanted to wait to play it.

I’d rather play vanilla Skyrim myself before I start modding it, so I have a sense of what kinds of mods I’d even want.

I see no reason to hold out either. But then I’m not feeling overwhelmed by games this year - having finished Rage, I don’t intend to buy anything else between now and Skyrim anyway, though there are a couple of games I will probably pick up after Skyrim (Stronghold 3, SOTS2, etc.)

Yeah, Skyrim then SWTOR, which I’ve preordered anyhow. I don’t seem anything other than iOS stuff and maybe a Matrix wargame type thing if anything interesting is out, like that new Eastern Front thing from 2x2 Games.

Heh, I have a similar point of view for Bethesday RPGs. Except I play the retail disc version for a while at launch. Later, get GOTY edition when it’s really, really cheap on a Steam sale then play with all DLC plus mods.
