It’s a tradeoff I’m more than willing to make. Games of this scope are so few and far between, especially today.
That’s the way I look at it.
Look at the GTA games. Lots of fun little things to do but really, physics sucked, driving and movement in general was clunky, combat was a joke.
Morrowind is one of my favorite RPGs based on atmosphere, world design and lore alone because the combat was horrendous and the encyclopedia NPCs were incredibly dull.

I would pay $100 for Morrowind if it were officially (I am too lazy to juggle mods an quirks) remade and re-released quest for quest, world for world, npc for npc, with nothing but an improved combat system and modern graphics. If Nintendo has done anything with the Wii and recent handhelds, it’s proven that classic games can be sold and sold again, for decades, without changing anything at all other than the artwork (or simply a change of platform, but I don’t want that – except for full on Windows 7 and DX11 compatibility~).
I would have paid $5000 to get Skyrim made - i.e. a sequel to Oblivion that builds on that game, which is one of my personal favorite games over the past 30 years (perhaps lagging behind only Ultima 7, Star Control 2 and Freespace 2).
…but I still can’t pull the trigger on the collectors’ edition, as I really don’t want to support $150 for that unspecial edition. I’ll probably buy 4-5 copies of Skyrim to give to friends though.
Alistair friends Desslock.
Desslock, bro! Call me, buddy. It’s been too long.
Remember that time we um, posted in the same thread? Yep. Good times.

Hey Desslock, my man! I want to make a remake of Skyrim. I’ll do it for only 2 G’s, yo! I’m real good friends with Todd Howard 'n shit!

Did anyone happen to get one of those Skyrim Plush helmets they were giving away and is willing to part with it?
Desslock is on another continent… if you ever drop by Europe come down south for a beer and bring a copy of Skyrim mmmkay?
Kinda wondering if we should be hearing a “it’s done” announcement here Real Soon. As in this week.
does this game have co-op?
No multi-player at all. Bethsoft apparently discussed it, but wanted to focus all their efforts on singleplayer.
I would have poo-poo’d on any multiplayer talk in a game like this before, but now that I’ve played Dark Souls I can’t help but think some of its multiplayer system might be interesting for a game like Skyrim - a normally single player experience, but you can leave notes for other players in their worlds to read, or summon players near your own level to help with a rought battle or dungeon, or even invade other players worlds who are about your own level.
Certainly not EXACTLY like Dark Souls (I don’t think I would like the invasion stuff, maybe lets keep it co-op only, or allow for summoning players or friends in specific PvP arena areas), but something like that would be fun for this kind of game. How could would a spell in the Conjuration school be that would let you summon a player on your friends list (with some sort of confirmation on your friends end)?
I predict: next ES game will have a MP component OR be an all new MP based game set in the ES universe.
That’s the one I’ll skip. No thanks.

Skyrim now has a live action trailer??
Looks bloody good - the GF said it reminded her of Game of Thrones, and yeah, production values are through the roof on this one. I wonder if its less expensive than CGI ones?
