Enemy level scaling more like fallout than oblivion apparantly. I guess that’s good; never realised it happened in fallout 3 / NV

Pete Hines (Bethesda PR) just tweeted this as PC requirements:

Recommended PC Specs
•Windows 7/Vista/XP PC (32 or 64 bit)
•Processor: Quad-core Intel or AMD CPU
•4GB System RAM
•6GB free HDD space
•DirectX 9 compatible NVIDIA or AMD ATI video card with 1GB of RAM (Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 or higher; ATI Radeon 4890 or higher).
•DirectX compatible sound card
•Internet access for Steam activation

Minimum PC Specs
•Windows 7/Vista/XP PC (32 or 64 bit)
•Dual Core 2.0GHz or equivalent processor
•2GB System RAM
•6GB free HDD Space
•Direct X 9.0c compliant video card with 512 MB of RAM
•Internet access for Steam activation

Also his tweet:

The Min specs get you playing,. The recommended specs let you play on High, not on Ultra. You’ll want beefier rig for that.

I meet all the recommended requirements, except for the video card.

Yup. Right where I thought the requirements would fall.

My processor is above the minimum, everything else is above the recommended. Woo!

What the fuck, 6 gigabytes of hard drive space? I hope there’s a texture pack coming. Jesus, my Oblivion mods folder takes up more room than that.

Yeah, basically. I love these types of open world single player games. And I know that the things I most love about them would have the potential to be neglected or modified somehow to support co-op.

So I was just expressing a little bit of relief that Skyrim sticks to the gameplay of the previous ES games. And also expressing my hope that any hypothetical future games do the same.

This…

I was looking forward to Oblivion after Morrowind and was disappointed. Fallout 3 I was avoiding because I love the original games and didn’t think Bethesda could pull it off, especially after Oblivion but it turned out to be a pretty enjoyable game and much more than “Oblivion with guns”.

Thanks for posting that. I don’t meet the recommended specs, so 360 version it is then. I’ll pick up the PC GotY version cheaply from Steam in the future, when I’ll have a PC that can do it justice. By then most of the good mods should be out too. That way I can have the best of both worlds.

Pretty beefy specs considering this game runs on PS3 and XBOX.

Concerning multiplayer: It’s nice to see this discussion resurfacing everytime a new Elder Scrolls comes out.

Hmm, I have a C2 Duo at 3.0GHz and a GTX260 Superclocked from EVGA w/896MB, so I suppose I technically could run it.

My laptop has a first gen Core i5 and a Mobility Radeon 5650. Wonder how that would work? Of course the screen res there is ridiculously limited (1366x768).

All moot anyway, since I’ll never have the time to do it justice.

So, is it wierd that the minimum (7GB) hard drive space requirements are higher than the recommended (6GB)? Nevermind, someone said it was because with lower ram requirement, the game would use a bigger HD space swapfile.

Maybe swap file space to make up for having half the ram.

Someone on RPS thinks there’s no reason to panic about the 6 GB hard drive space because Bethesda may have gotten better at texture compression. We’ll see. (harumph harumph)

Yeah, someone stated as much on the Elderscrolls forums, and I edited as such, but now they’ve updated the specs to list both suggested requirements as needing 6GB of free hard drive space now.

It will run “fine”; I have a laptop with very similar specs and it can run BF3 pretty good, no input lag or anything similar whatsoever so you’re good to go.

Not sure how interesting this will turn out, but X-Play (tonight on G4 @5:30pm CST) there will be some Skyrim footage and information on towns and cities (and more?), so might be worth checking out.

For those interested in seeing it that don’t have access to G4, it’s supposed to be on the G4tv.com website sometime after it airs.

…and here is the new footage. Public excecutions! :)

Enjoy!

Jesus fuck. Forum is preventing me from quoting you Bleed and posting.

In that video, were those vamps? “I still hear the call of the blood.”

I didn’t catch the vampires, but I know vampires ARE in the game, so yeah, very likely that’s what that was. :)

That first npc speaking almost sounds like Sylvester Stallone.
