Much more sensible than me getting it for the pretty cover!
Color me jealous.
Also, here is the map for those that have yet to see it.
(edit - not sure how finalized/official that map is - someone on the official forums said it was some sort of translated map from the russian version, though I can’t imagine they’d be laid out differently).

Whats with the meat thing at the end of the blue sky video?
The point of my link isn’t that SOME GUY has Skrim. You missed it.
The point is some guy HAS SKYRIM.
Exactly! Fortunately, I’ve stopped myself from picking it up for the very reason that I’m going to be too tempted to use it then I am going to be bothered by not discovering the game on my own. But it IS the first time I’ve ever been interested in a strategy guide of any sort.
You’d still get stuck paying for the return shipping.

Is it just me, or are there almost no pre-order bonuses going around for Skyrim? I don’t like the Collector’s Edition because it is lacking in game goodies (I don’t care about physical stuff, I want in game stuff).
Am I right in seeing no pre-order marketing for this product? I’m okay with that (it means I’m not missing out), but I don’t want to do what happened to me with Shogun 2 - I had it pre-ordered for ages on Steam and totally missed out on a playable clan.
Thanks.

I’m watching for the same and haven’t noticed anything aside from the map included with pre-orders at retail (which doesn’t interest me). I had the game pre-ordered on Amazon.ca but cancelled it when I remembered that November 11 is a holiday in Canada and that I’d have to wait for shipping anyway. Steam is the better option (day 1 play time on a holiday) but nothing as a bonus making itself known. Guess they don’t need anything to sell Skyrim.
So that paper map we saw being unfolded by that madskillz guy is not going to be in the standard package if you don’t preorder? That bites.

Just preordered from Amazon for the XBox. First time for me to play one of these on the console, I played Fallout 3 and Oblivion on the PC but I only have 3 year old notebooks at home now. I had a $10 coupon, and you get a $10 coupon plus the physical map with the preorder, and I’m a prime member so free two day shipping - so bottom line cost is $39 (with the $10 coupon off plus the new $10 coupon that comes with the preorder.)
I’ll have to see what the experience is like on a console. On the one hand, I won’t spend more time reviewing and applying mods than I do playing, LOL! OTOH, it’ll be nice sitting on the sofa seeing the game on a 54" HD plasma screen.
Prime means free release-day shipping, man, not just free two-day shipping.
Gaa, so tempted to get this now. Must resist temptation and play backlog games.

The paper map is standard, the cloth one a pre-order bonus AFAIK.
I desperately wish that someone would do the Stardock method of a physical plus digital method. I can’t imagine getting anything other than a digital copy but man, I really want a boxed copy of this. I am still mad the CE is so expensive and terrible, though.

Anyone able to splain the inside joke?

Apparently when Todd first saw the concept artist drawing meat he thought it a waste of art resources and was pretty horsey about it. Later he came to see that he’d been wrong, and it became a joke–whenever they didn’t have art for something they’d say, “But we have pictures of meat.”

Yeah, but I probably won’t have time to play for a few days after I get it anyway. :(
