Sure was! The footage may not have been long enough to properly represent the whole game, but it was long enough to leave a bad impression.

If you get a bad impression from that, go ahead and skip the game to spare us having to read your further complaints. There is absolutely nothing to complain about regarding the voices in that clip. You’re dragging Oblivion baggage into this already, which I already anticipate will be the single most annoying aspect of forum discussion on this game.

I paused the TV when that came on, thinking it was probably some car commercial or the like. But when I fast forwarded through it I saw a dragon, so I backed it up and watched it.

Yeah, that’s a nice commercial. I too, am stoked.

Yep, i managed to wrestle the world “Incredibly engrossing” out of a journalist friend of mine but that is all he could say. It’s torture seeing him on my friends list playing the game every day.

Did I miss a link somewhere? There is a video with the first 30 minutes of skyrim from the very beginning? I thought I saw one of 30 minutes of game-play, but not the first 30 minutes.

Has anyone caught the leaked opening 30 minutes of Skyrim? I gotta say I was pretty underwhelmed. The graphics were decent, and I kinda liked the darker tone, but the voice acting is pretty wonky and just…bad. It’s hard to believe that the Nords are one nation when some of them talk in thick Scandinavian accents while others speak with a bog standard Hollywood tone, especially if it’s in the same conversation. It’s nice that Bethesda at least tried to give the Nords a distinct Scandinavian feel, but if they weren’t gonna go all the way then they shouldn’t have even bothered at all.

Hmm … everyone doesn’t speak the same in a province which features distinct regions and enclaves of orc and dunmer refugees? Not to mention indiviidual variations. We live in the Deep South. My husband’s sister who studied large animal medicine and hung out on farms during vet school has a strong accent. My husband doesn’t–despite his place of birth. In my experience uniformity of pronunciation would actually be unrealistic.

I will wait at least one week to get some comments here. Since I plan on this being a looooong game. Waiting one week will not hurt.
