Bob Costas’s first job as a cub reporter was as play by play guy for the short-lived ABA basketball franchise, The Spirits of St. Louis. That team had two great players–Moses Malone and the inimitable Marvin Barnes. Bob frequently tells this story when prompted:
There is the legendary story about the Spirits getting ready to depart on a flight that left Louisville, Ky., at 8 p.m. and would get into St. Louis at 7:56 p.m. due to a time-zone change.
Upon looking at the schedule, Barnes said, “I ain’t getting on no time machine,” and rented a car for the trip.
Is Skyrim’s story a continuation of Oblivion’s, or are their stories not related? In other words, would I need to first play Oblivion for Skyrim’s story to make sense?
I’ve never completed Morrowind, never played Oblivion, and do not own Skyrim. Any advice would be appreciated!
Skyrim is set 200 years after the events in Oblivion, in a different part of the world. So no, not really related, and no need to have played any of the previous games.
Ahh hell, I must visit this place from the future call “Australia”. They have Skyrim.

GiantBomb makes mention of the PC version having the same inventory interface as the 360. BOO. Bethesda, will you ever learn?
Now that people have started playing Skyrim, I’d like to know what everyone thought about Oblivion’s leveling system. I didn’t like how bandits ended up running around in glass armor. It seemed silly to me.
It think it’s probably more important to talk about how Fallout 3 wasn’t really a Fallout game.

So is this unlocked everywhere, or just where it is 11/11?

I think it unlocks timezone by timezone. UK Steam has it unlocking at 12pm midnight tonight, which is eight and a half hours away.
Jesus Christ. The sound effects are amazing.

Man, these reviews are super positive.
Yeah, but he also says that it works well on the PC. It’s completely different than the Oblivion inventory interface, in any event. It’s a sorted text list, with a reasonably small font that shows a good number of items on-screen at once (as many as you’d get with many of the Oblivion inventory mods). So I’d say that maybe they have learned.
Bah I finished Dead Island today (completely in singleplayer, absolutely loved it) and played it all the way through with x360pad, and I will most likely do the same with Skyrim. Mouse and keyboard, bah ! : )
Looks very similar to the Fallout 3 interface, if somewhat less clunky. Not great, but good enough.

I’m going to be playing this on PC. I assume that the best control scheme will be mouse and keyboard. But maybe I’m wrong. Any chance that a 360 controller would be the better choice?

Won’t get to play until tomorrow morning fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck…
I won’t be playing till Amazon gets me my copy, which I think will probably be tomorrow evening. Meanwhile, I’m pretty psyched that this doesn’t suck.
