I don’t think there are any spoilers below
So far this game is everything I could have hoped for (a whole 90 minutes in…), and more. As much as I love the game, I have no idea how I could return to the world of Fallout 3 after this. I haven’t delved deep, but I’m through the intro, and have spent about another forty minutes or so looking around, killing stuff, finding treasures, and scaring animals into the river.
I enjoyed the intro much, much more than FO3 or Oblivion’s (I can’t remember the one from New Vegas very well, I have that on console so I don’t play it much).
I can’t think of any complaints (except those standard Bethesda interface issues, which aren’t as significant for me as the first time I played Oblivion and FO3 since I’ve adapted a bit – other than my constant “why doesn’t escape close my inventory/skill/magic window? argh!” whine), and I am in fact blown away by what I’ve seen.
I’m playing on ultra-high settings. I’ve never played Witcher 2, so I have nothing else to really compare this game to, but as far as I’m concerned it looks stunning compared to anything else I’ve played, though admittedly I apparently have low standards compared to the hardest of the hardcore pc elitists.
I am thrilled to be playing this game. The spells have punch, the creatures react when I crush their faces with hammers, and I’m a god damned horned Argonian female named Siczora.
I’ll go into more details tonight or tomorrow. Right now I’m so excited to see splashes of color and variance in the dungeon(s), when compared to the nearly monochrome palettes of subterranean Oblivion.
Oh, and a minor complaint is that currently alt-tab stability seems to be kinda hit and miss.
