Yeah…can’t you return Amazon stuff?

I declare this game fucking awesome.
There was well more than 200 at the midnight launch I attended. The Gamestop clerk wrote everyone’s number on their receipt and I saw one guy with #248. It was really a big crowd.
A local gaming store rented out the empty office space next door and set up a D&D table, a beginner’s Magic tourney, and a costume contest. Pretty cool, in a super-awesome nerdy way.

Beautiful game. Really immersive. Some slight sound issues but I’m trying a fix after lunch. Need energy to play for another eight hours or so.
Nice, sounds like you’re glad you caved and picked it up! I can’t play until tonight, when my wife brings my copy (and my son’s copy) home. But at least I’ll have a manual!
Noooooo don’t say that why did you say that now I have to buy it
Yeah, agreed. People saying that this game looks like Oblivion are high on the crack. It looks way better than Oblivion, both technically, and it terms of the art direction.
It sounds like the followup I’ve been waiting for since Daggerfall. Not that I didn’t enjoy Morrowind or Oblivion.

I think the terrain and the vistas are absolutely gorgeous, but the textures on the character models seem a little rough to me. Certainly better than Oblivion, but a little rougher than I was expecting.
It’s also worth pointing out that the animations look great. Very smooth and life like for the most part.
Definitely agreed. They could have done a much better job with the character models.
Overall, this is giving me a lot more Morrowind vibes than Oblivion ever did. Kudos to Bethesda.
It’s 1pm here and I now wish I’d driven over to Best Buy, picked up a copy of the CE, and then returned the Amazon order whenever it decides to arrive.
My game tends to randomly minimize itself now and then, but thankfully I can alt-tab back into it. If it happens to you (or you alt-tab out on purpose/by accident), just switch back to the game and then while it is active (huge black window) cycle alt-tab to it again. This should restore the game with no graphical corruption or anything.
The game also occasionally just closes without warning.
I read some folks had luck changing a sound option, somewhere, for frequent random crashes.

OMG really? I can only hope. DF was my favorite ES game by far, especially for dungeon crawling. (story dungeons, not the random spaghetti ones)

I’m also very happy I caved. Last new game before the winter sale though.
Bethesda retail and GOTY editions have seperate steam entries though, right? So I could still buy the goty version for cheap in a year or two or will I get a “you already own this game, buy the DLC seperate” - error?
I just know my wife got this for my birthday. Trouble is my bday is on SUNDAY!!!
BITCH!!!

I’m only going by the initial impressions. I haven’t seen any videos or anything. But the early marveling is a good sign.
I guess I’ll find out tonight.
