I would venture to say that, if you liked Morrowind and weren’t too thrilled with Oblivion, you will truly like Skyrim. Level 3.9 now and just completed a quest where I gained 2 levels.
It rocks, no doubt about it. One of those games that, for me at least, makes you lose track of the time. If my bird didn’t land on my shoulder I’d still be playing.
205,919 people playing this on Steam ATM…isn’t that kinda high for a RPG?
Agreed. I played for a few hours last night, and it took me right back to the feeling of playing Morrowind (which was my first game in the series). At least the first two-thirds of Morrowind, before it all turned to sandstorms.
I remembered liking Morrowind, but until last night I’d forgotten how much I liked Morrowind, and what it felt like to get completely engrossed in a game.
And for comparison, I just couldn’t get more than a couple hours into Oblivion before totally losing interest. And I didn’t like Fallout 3 at all. (But keep meaning to give it another try).

Steam sold 195,000 copies of The Witcher 2… so fewer than are playing Skyrim right now.
To be fair, Bethesda’s games are probably the most accessible and widely promoted RPGs there are. I’d imagine heads would be rolling at Bethesda right now if Skyrim didn’t have more day one players than The Witcher 2 had total sales.
The big difference between this and Oblivion is that the intro leaves you with questions rather than an agenda. In an open world game, this fits much better than the OMFG the world is ending that Oblivion used.

It’s absurdly high, even for a non-RPG.
Can you imagine what the console SKUs must have sold?
Extremely well deserved. Congratulations, Bethesda.
Haha, yeah.
“The world is ending!”
“Who cares?”
“No seriously the world is ending, I need you to take this amulet to the long lost–”
“When I get to it, geez.”
Good old Oblivion. I do hope Skyrim starts with you in prison, though (don’t tell me). I’ll be sad otherwise.
Not really a fair comparison.
The Witcher 2 sold around a million copies, 200k of which was from steam. Skyrim is a steamworks game which means every PC copy is running via steam.
Still, it would shocking if Skyrim didn’t sell more than the The Witcher 2 just on the PC alone.

The manual has now been uploaded to the Steam store page for Skyrim.
Man, that’s a skimpy manual. Maybe I should have ordered the guide after all.

Sorry if this has been answered, but way too many posts.
I heard there was a day 1 patch slated for today, but my Steam did not have an update nor download a patch. Anyone know the status of this or how I can check for myself?
Thanks! :)
Give in man. I just did. Ordered from green man for $54. The flip side you will not hate yourself because you will be too busy playing. Well at least that’s the hope.

The patch is not out yet. The official elder scrolls twitter account tweeted earlier today that they were still working on it.

Because we must!
For me, it’s more about improving my work ethic + getting all the DLC bundled at 49.99.

If this is good this will be 1/4 good Bethesda games I’ve bought this year. Brink, Rage and Hunted all sucked.
