This actually happened to me. That giant bashed me over the head, killed me with one blow, and caused me to fly 300 meters into the air. Shame the game loads instantly last save, I wanted to see where I would land.

Me too. I got a great view of the area.

Is it just me, BTW, or is the music in Skyrim not as memorable as in Oblivion? After playing it about 4 hours, there’s not one melody that’s sticking in my mind. And when I went to look for the music (PC version), it’s apparently packed into some big “sounds” file instead of the convenient .mp3 files of Oblivion.

I’m finding it extraordinarily atmospheric and beautiful, actually. I’m not such a fan of the big sweeping tunes though, so it may just be different taste.
I find music not as melodic, but definitely atmospheric. In my book I actually prefer this, since the music won’t start annoying me as soon as it did in Oblivion. After 50 hours there I had to get a music mod to replace the music.
See, I really liked Oblivion’s melodies. Oh well. In other news, while the game runs decently on High settings, on my current machine (E8400 C2Duo, GTX 260 Core 216) I definitely want to update to a new rig early next year to do this thing justice (right now, textures in the distance pretty much peter out). So assuming a second gen core i7, will a GTX 560 Ti do the trick?

Don’t forget to sing the Skyrim Song when loading it up.
Hated Oblivion’s music. Love Skyrim’s.
Second gen core i5 2500K and GTX560Ti certainly does the trick for me!
If by trick you mean 1920*1200@ultra@60fps.

I’m running at Ultra on 1920x1080p w/ 4x FSAA/16x AF with a i5-2400 and HD6850.

Phenom 2 X3 at 3.2ghz with a GTX 460 1 gig and 2 (!) gig of ram, pretty much everything turned up, verrry nice.
Though I needed to tweak the ini’s to stop the shadows looking stupid, details in the other thread.
Well, obviously that’s because they didn’t even BOTHER to update their engine except for a few minor graphical tweaks and they’ve just spent the last five years laughing at all of us while BLATANTLY DECEIVING their customer base.
It fills me with so much rage I’d start a class action suit if I weren’t occupied with raising my enchanting skill and putting baskets on people’s heads.

Well, at least the game is good.
I thought the game was on a new engine? No?
No. Not really. I guess they plugged new code for various parts of the game into the old Gamebryo engine, but it really is the same as Oblivion, Fallout 3, etc. That said, it’s a terrific game so far.

It doesn’t really make much sense to create a new engine unless its going to go on a new console. But I do remember them announcing it was a new engine.
I’ll add to the chorus of people running great on old PCs. Mines 2 and 1/2 years old. GTX285 and alot of memory. Runs well on high graphics settings. I assume thats because even though my PC is old its not nearly as old as the xbox 360 it was written for.

Does it run better than Oblivion on the same hardware?
