Yes, but it did not help me.
I love this game so much…
made a gameplay video, could not resist.

Nice bandit head rolling down the hill at 2:58!
Nice video, Paul. That’s a spectacular setting and your character is bad-ass.

Think of it like a warrior, you need to have great weapon skills or you will get the snot beat out of you. Also I recommend either wearing armor or putting some number of level up points into health unless you like getting regularly one shotted at high level.
Right now I have to engage in all sorts of sneaky shenanigans to take down enemies because if they hit me once I die.

Farmers buy them. It’s only 1-2g each but I hoard each one I pick up.

Fantastic Koyaanisqatsi-like timelapse video of Skyrim:

God damn that is smooth. Now I feel bad for buying a GTX 460 (though it’s obvious to me now that I’m bound by CPU and not video card).
Really nice video, Paul. What’s a GTX560 Ti TwinFrozr2? Does that mean you’ve got 2 video cards? I’m really envious, but will soon not be, since I’m buying the components of my next rig very soon now.
BTW, does anyone know of a reputable vendor in the US who will assemble, test and ship a motherboard + processor? I was going to use mwave.com, but waited too long and now they don’t have the i5 2500K on offer for bundling. I suppose I could bite the bullet and buy an i7 2600K, but that’s quite a jump in price. Or I could just run an i5 2500 and forget about overclocking (I’ve never overclocked before, so why start now? ;-) )
EDIT: Never mind, figured out what the video card deal was. What’s the warranty on that thing? Looks pretty slick, especially if it stays cooler as they claim.
So I’m having a swell time with my battlemage build, but I have a huge Achilles Heel when it comes to higher-level mage enemies. Melee/ranged is great, but since their higher level spells pass right through my armor, I’m toast as soon as somebody casts a couple of fireball spells my way.
My question to the forum: if I enchant my light armor with magical resistances (general, not element-specific), am I also going to be resisting my own magic? Am I going to have to pass a throw in order conjure my M1 Abrams - I mean Frost Atronach - and maybe fail because my magical resistance is too high? Googling seems to produce mixed results, so before I go and waste a lot of time and money obtaining the skills and materials to perform the necessary enchantments, I’d love to know if somebody here has an answer.

No, magic resist is only for enemy spell effects hitting you. If it affected your own spells, my poor Breton mage would be d0med.
That is absolutely glorious. I’d love to enjoy a moment in the game with the same feeling this video gives me. After 40 hours I haven’t chanced upon anything quite as powerful. I think it’s time to take a break from quests and start walking around to soak in the view.
If you go to the Eurogamer link, you can see their time lapse of the recent Fallout games. As you’d expect, Skyrim blows them out of the water due to the geography, weather, and improved graphics.
Beautiful. The game’s music is not often mentioned but I think it’s absolutely superb.

That is hilarious.
There was another thing in the game that literally made me guffaw with joy, when you

get transported across the entire country after a drinking game.
That is the second best possible answer to that question. Best would be modding in a throne for the chair so that you’d be doing more of a Bored Conan pose.

Is there any word on when Bethesda will release the toolsets? I can feel, after about 70 hours or so, that its time to let the game rest a bit and do something else. Oh there’s still tons of things to find and explore, but I think I’ll wait until a few patches, and till the modding community has had time to add some of the greatness I’ve become used to with Oblivion and Morrowind.

Nope. It’s definitely on the way, but they’re understandably wary about setting dates they might not hit.

Actually I’ve found the music to be kinda forgettable. The title screen music especially does nothing for me and I’m normally a sucker for stirring game music on the title screen.
I seem to remember some big deal being made about the music being translated into a fictional language and sung by a fancy choir. I appreciate the effort but I got more out of Oblivions music.
EDIT: There you go, finally I can think of something Oblivion did better :)
