Wow, this makes me want to avoid tweaks (ugridstoload) that might burn more memory. I’d rather have stable than pretty, especially given that I am totally immersed in things as is.

I had those pauses on my system (E6500 @ 3.85GHz, 4GB RAM, Radeon HD 5770) when I had uGridsToLoad set to 7 and the interior/exterior cells bumped up. They went away when I reverted those changes back to the defaults. I suspect they’re caused by the asset manager eating up a lot of cycles while loading terrain assets as you move around the world.

I don’t know if I could play this without ugrids set lower than 7 anymore. It makes such a huge difference that I’m willing to put up with saving more often and suffering through CTDs if it means not going back to 5.

Unstable for me too. Various CTDs :(

Someone who knows more about this stuff make it better please.

That’s unfortunate. I still had pauses before that, but I suppose the pauses weren’t as long as they are now. For uGrids 7 I’ll deal with it.

Oh hey, look. Pogo’s abrasive attitude and apparent need to argue have once again invaded a thread. Great. :/

???
I suppose you were reading something 100 pages back and responded to it, but it looks weird considering he wrote something just above yours.
Maybe You’re LARPing?

That transmute thing sounds fun for making Jewlery. I’ll remember that for my next character.

The LAA probably bugs with the Steam DRM Wrapper on TESV.EXE. I suppose you will have to snag up an old version of the .exe file (You did take a backup when you ran LAA didn’t you?)

And; You’ll have to disable automatic patching through steam.

  • And Disable it again every time Steam updates, as it has a tendency to reset all your settings, cause thats how much valve loves ya.

Transmute is unfortunately a straight iron to gold route via silver. And yeah, there’s no reason to make silver jewelry when you could be making gold, so I turn it all into gold.

They’d really have me if I could make chrome horsecaps.

Hi, I’m sure this is relevant in some other planet, but on this one it’s not so hey shut up.

The stealth way they’ve done it is pretty irksome.

Dammit Beth, you were riding a TIDAL WAVE OF INTERNET LOVE and you gotta wipe out? Why you gotta be like that, huh?

40k in money? Wow. I’ve never gotten above 7,000. Of course as a mage, I have to often buy spells from vendors. I suspect melee people don’t have to do that often.

If it only changes the exe, then it’ll be easy enough to find an old version - I took a backup, happily.

Oh for those who are wondering, playing at higher difficulties means worse drops. I dropped down to the default difficulty (adept) and got more dragon parts than I do on the hardest (master). It was a big surprise.

Have you seen that consistently happen? Because I’ve seen different numbers of bones and scales drop from dragons without changing the difficulty.

Jeez. So problems removed by getting hold of a copy of the old exe, and re applying the LAA tweak. No crashes since then. And auto-update off.

I only checked the once to see what I would do to dragons on normal mode. It’s not something I care about because I’m already rolling in dough.

Also normal mode, I wtfpwn dragons. Master I still rock their socks, but it was hilarious how fast they dropped on Adept.

I’m starting to get the black screen system crashes again. I thought the borderless window fix I posted earlier had resolved this, but I guess I was just lucky for a while.

Well this fucking sucks. LAA placebo? My ass. That shit works. I had ugridstoload=7 with LAA applied, no crashes whatsoever.

Now I have ugridstoload=7 without LAA because of new exe, and fucking game crashed twice in one hour.

So I am going back to ugridstoload=5, I guess. Or get somewhere the original exe (I did not backup, stupid me).
Fucking Bethesda/Valve.

Paul, this is the announcement thread. It’s been dead since the 11th! Check out triggercut’s post in the tweak thread for a workaround.

Uh, you’re reading the dates on the posts wrong. This thread is constantly active :)

I am getting lost in all these threads :)
Ok I will shut up now and go check the other one for triggercut’s post.
