I’m pretty sure that’s fixable with a tweak, have you checked the mods/tweaks thread?

I just experimented with the 1.1 EXE and 1.2 Interface.bsa thinking it would fix some bugs. It fixes the infinite gold selling cheat, but also breaks the “Give” and “Favorite” buttons when talking to your companion.
Also, after letting Steam patch I replaced the two files back to normal and it seems to be leaving them alone.

Yeah, I read about the fix for it, but I didn’t want to have to disable VSYNC and then use a FPS limiter program as a workaround unless I had no choice. I did do the .ini tweaks though like turning off mouse acceleratoin and increasing the fov as I get motion sickness if I try playing with the default fov. I’ll probably do more tweaks once TweakGuides releases their in depth guide.

Many thanks for both backing these up and sharing them with us, Vesper. I’m going to play with the patch for a bit and see what the damage is first. If needed I’ll use these to revert back.

I think people who don’t program (like myself) think of lines of code as these abstract compartmentalized units of gameplay mechanics that perform the entirety of their task by themselves before sending off final damage values for whatever is happening.
I don’t think it works like that. It’s probably the ideal for every programming team, but there’s so much to test in this game that “let’s check to make sure resistances still work!” isn’t high on priority.

Proper professional programming discipline includes multitudes of automated unit tests. These run all of the time to make sure you don’t cause unintended consequences when making changes. The fact that something like this happens means that Bethesda is lacking in their unit testing.
To be fair, LOTS of professional programmers don’t write enough unit tests, but one would hope when the project costs millions of dollars, shortcuts aren’t taken.

So… I can be a vampire-werewolf? Best patch EVAR!!
On a related note, it’s scaring me a little that “FUS RO DAH” is becoming a meme. Why must nerds ruin everything?
Besides, it kind of kills it when you type FUS RO DAH. The subtle change in timing in the game (Fus… Ro-Da!) is the difference between a sweet fantasy RPG spell and LARPers casting lightning bolt.
This is a very fine line, people.
(I love the dog image macro though.)

Damn it. I set the game to not auto update on steam this afternoon.
Guess what it did after I just shut it down? It auto updated…

From what I know of programming which is based on a mix of high school level intro courses, self teaching enough to make a turn based/tile based strategy game, and some statistical analysis programming, you generally are supposed to compartmentalize so that you can change one thing and hopefully contain any mistakes you make and prevent from screwing up other unrelated shit.
However I have no experience with large scale games programming so I can’t comment on whether they are coding like noobs or whether function based programming ceases to be relevant at higher levels. I can however comment on their total lack of strenuous testing of a bunch of code changes though.
Basically there’s two options:
A) They are keeping good track of the code and know what gets affected when they change something (which in my simplistic view is basically a fuckton of variables being passed back and forth between functions). In this case you know exactly what to test when you change something and they failed to test that specific thing which is dumb.
B) The code base has become such an unruly mess that there’s no way to know what will happen when you change one particular thing and there’s no way to adequately test with just a handful of game testers so bugs slip through.
Both are fuck ups it’s just a question of which way they fucked up, and which one will probably determine how quick of a fix it is.
LOL.

I’ve had it off and on in the past (before patch). I had to restart the game to fix it.

You obviously didn’t invest in the restart perk.
