I deleted the wrong ini which fixed it :)

Quick tip for people that like to make new characters (PC only):

Load the first saved game, the one the game makes automatically before the one peon is gunned down as he runs away. Let that happen, and then let them call you forward. Before the guy speaks, just open console (~), then type save NEWGAME or whatever you want it called.

Now you just load it up and don’t have to wait for the guy to get shot. Probably not useful for anyone that doesn’t religiously make new characters, or for someone like me who is about to dive into making custom warpaints (requests accepted).

Patch broke my game. My “action” button no longer works (I’m using an Xbox 360 controller on PC). I can navigate menus, but I can’t select any options. I can’t toggle a quest active or not. I can’t skip through dialogue. I can’t even exit the game except by ctrl-alt-del because I can’t select the “Exit to desktop” option on the menu.

I copied in Vespers file (thanks man), but it appears to break fast traveling and some menus. I am guessing a few other files were patched and the old exe doesn’t mesh perfectly with them.

Bless you Bethesda for creating such an awesome game.

Curse you Bethesda for your horrid patch and for making rookie mistakes on the keyboard re-mapping.

Did you replace the Interface.bsa also? It goes in a different directory.

Oddly enough, the patch has not broken anything for me except, I am pretty sure, the resistances, though that is bad enough. I am at the point of fighting Alduin and having no resists sucks…

If instead of wasting weeks on outsourced QA they just put up a beta to be tested, everything would have been fixed in a matter of hours.

Damn iPhone autocorrect. I just tweeted this “TinyPirate: Think Obama going to collect all the skulls I can find in #skyrim and then artfully arrange them in my house. It’s art, not madness!”

“I am” not “Obama”, damn it!

Well, if you hear a presidential-sounding knock at your door you could be right either way.

What does a presidential-sounding knock sound like?

You can recoqnize them by the men in black hovering over you as you open the door.

But that is after the fact. The idea is if you recognize the knock, you can be out the back door, or secret tunnel before they are wise to you.

He says as if your house wouldn’t be surrounded by 40 people in suits with automatic weapons before the president was within a mile of your house.

Jag, which file? I’m having the same stupid vertical aiming issue. :-/

I believe its whichever .ini file you used to change the x/y-axis settings on the mouse which would be skyrimprefs.ini. Best thing to do is to backup skyrim.ini and skyrimprefs.ini, and then delete one each to see if it fixes the issue. If deleting just one doesn’t work, you could delete both.

Glad Im using a PS3 offline (by accident; I ran Ethernet to it which disconnected the wifi, but unplugged the cable over the holiday to clean up the room).

How do you guys even play with your rollbacked version (Steam)? When I start Skyrim in offline mode, it says that this game can’t be played in offline mode. When I start in online mode, it prevents me from starting the game without patching first.

And the game ran so well before the patch :(

I replaced the .exe and the interface.bsa files with the ones posted earlier in this thread (thanks again!), and then I launch the game using the 4GB loader. Works just fine.

Skyrim update from Bethesda - working on tools and repairing last patch.

Creation Kit — Beginning in January, PC players will be able to download the same development tools we used at Bethesda Game Studios to create Skyrim. In tandem with the Creation Kit’s release, we will roll out a new Wiki and videos to help you get started. It also features something we think you’re going to love…

You can hear Hail to the Chief in the background.
