That’s actually really nice. Much better than a fake coin I’ll never look at like the Oblivion one I got.
And it’s not retailer-specific!
I’m down for a nice looking map. I’ve framed a few nice ones in my time, and still have the 3E Faerun map framed in my office. ;)
Oh wow, I love the TES maps, I have the Vvardenfell, Solstheim and Cyrodiil maps hanging above my desk. I’ll have to make room for the Skyrim one then :)
Finally the fan QnAhas been posted.
No spears reason was lame. Todd I am coming at you with my spear at the ready, br0!
At least the PC version will have its own interface and the like.
A stealthy shout?
RAWR! YOU DON’T KNOW I’M HERE!

HELLO EVERYONE? HELLO? ALRIGHT, I’M COMING IN NOW. I’M OVER HERE.
Ahh, kind of like voice projection as a distraction (the sound is not coming from where you are). That makes sense.
I love the crafting bits they mentioned, I’m looking forward to that. The return of enchanting as a skill and the way you gain new enchantments by breaking down other enchanted items sound cool as well.
Choice between two body sizes is awesome, a mage or archer doesn’t have the same bulk as a warrior for example, it will be nice to chose your look in that regard.
Thank goodness no full voice acting! It ruined Mass effect for me, it killed any immersion I ever had in that game. Just let me click a response and imagine the tone/exact words in my own head, it makes for a far better RP experience.
I like it that they added companions and romance, I hope it won’t be limited to just one or two PCs for each gender though. It doesn’t have to be fully fleshed out like in Bioware games, but something like Fable (without the juvinile emotes though) where you could woo any NPC you took a fancy to would be nice.
This is probably the game I anticipate most this year, it’s been a long time since Oblivion and I’d love to have a fresh Elder scrolls experience. So far it’s sounding pretty good, even if I am a bit weary of the streamlining of certain features that have been mentioned.

Well, I was just being silly in the vein of what you said, but actually, your idea there makes a lot of sense. You can have credit for the idea I inadvertently came up with. :)
Risen had this, and I think Gothic 3 may have as well. I’m currently walking all over the Shivering Isles collecting materials for a blacksmith to forge me some amber armor and weapons; I look forward to skipping the middleman.
Morrowind had a ton of mods with crafting. It also had a few unusual mods, including one where players wrote an obscene number of scripts for a plantation where you could buy slaves and abuse them while they grew you things for money and such.
It was very odd. I bought one and sort of let him follow me around for a while before I got bored and turned him into a soul gem. I think I’m a terrible person.
You can be both, you know. Or ask Aeon221. He knows.
Every once in a while a post comes along that makes me infinitely grateful certain people aren’t making the decisions at certain companies.
I agree with him about Elder Scrolls but not Mass Effect. In Mass Effect I’m just sort of deciding whether Shepard is a prick or a nice guy and watching the cinematic presentation. In Elder Scrolls I want to actually be the character and don’t want to hear him talk.

For me, the only game that ever pulled off the immersion thing with no character voice, where that was a key contributor, was Half Life.
