I loved the wildlife of RDR. The only complaint I had about it was the ninja mountain lions. If wildlife in Skyrim worked like the fauna in RDR, I’d be a happy man.

Bethesda should incorporate hunting into their ES games. I mean, why wasn’t someone offereing a bounty for Cliff Racers? I could have made a ton of money in Morrowind that way.

I loved everything about RDR, mountain lions included. If there was something similar, not just a random wolf encounter every 2 days or so, I’d be a happy camper.

I was ecstatic to see a glass sword but disappointed to see it didn’t shatter.

Er, I don’t think those are real glass, but MAGIC ELFIN GLASS. :)

Yeah I thought the same thing, but didn’t know enough about the character to know. Was he protected by a spell, armor, etc. It sounds as though there are a lot of dragons in game too, so if that particular one was easy, I’m not as concerned. The later one that picked up the hill giant looking figure seemed much tougher.

I hated the ninja grizzlies much more, since they hung out in the woods and usually couldn’t be seen until they were mauling you. How they crashed through the undergrowth without making a sound is impossible to understand, aside from “Ninja!”

For Skyrim, it would be awesome if the first time you used a Glass anything it just shattered and you were left holding a broken shaft. The message could read, “It was made out of glass you idiot! What did you expect?”

That would be breaking the 4th wall :-/

Shades of Zork! Actually, once in a while that’s a cool thing.

The combat in this game looks as vacuous as any other Elder Scrolls title. I expect the dialogue and quest design to be pretty average, too.

That said, I’ll definitely play the game. As far as delivering a great exploration experience, I can’t think of many studios that do it better.

That’s what does it for me. The combat and RPG elements don’t interest me much, but I loved the exploration and quests in Oblivion. I think I need to take a moratorium on further hype now. 3 months seems a long way off.

I thought that the spells, shouts and archery in the Quakecon video looked improved and more interesting actually. The sprint shout he used to zip through a corridor of blade traps was really neat.

I hope they improved the UI for the PC release. I do not want to scroll through huge lists for inventory, spells, etc…

I have been replaying Fallout 3 recently and rediscovering how awesome it is. I had completely dismissed the work of Bethesda until then, but now I find myself really wanting more from them.

I’m just worried that without guns, and a move to more melee based combat (which usually sucks in first-person games), it’ll lose some of the magic for me. Or perhaps I’ll miss the burned-out world of Fallout.

God I love FO3, first vanilla and then with mods.

Just play an archery-based character. That’s the only way I like playing Oblivion, as sneaky-as-shit archer who refuses to use magic except for healing in emergencies. There’s something HUGELY satisfying about taking down some puffed-up mage who thinks he’s all that with an arrow from the darkness.

I do like sneaky, even in FO3 I do a lot of sneaky criticals. I think I’ll try that :)

That’s the only way I tend to have fun in these games, as a stealthy archer/healer.

And speaking of Fallout 3, I avoided that for a while since I figured it would be Oblivion with guns but I actually enjoyed it quite a bit and it’s leading me to believe Skyrim will be a huge improvement over Oblivion.

Eh, it’ll be Fallout 3 with swords.

Technically, in the timeline, won’t it be Fallout New Vegas with Swords?
