It’s not bad if they’re all in the same party. I actually like that you can cycle through sub-units. So you pick one person to do the shopping, then have them distribute the loots to all others.

Yeah, they really need to show what your current equipment is when you’re in the shop. I keep on poking into the shop, then popping out checking my guys to see what they currently have, then popping back in. I was hoping it would show up in the “Sell/Your Inventory” list, but no such luck, that only lists stuff you have that is not currently equipped. They should list stuff that’s equipped and unequipped. Be even handier if they let you buy stuff, equip the new stuff replacing your old equipment, then sell off the old stuff, all without leaving the shop screen.

I guess it won’t become the next Has anyone mentioned Populous yet?, but it still holds a special place in my heart from now on.

Yes, yes, yes.

Friday is payday and I cant wait to give Brad my money!!

I agree with this one. They could do something that Diablo clones have been doing for a while, which is show you the stats on the equipped item for the selected character along with the stats for the store item.

It also makes it hard to see if any of the items on sale are better than what you already have. You can’t see stats on what you have equipped, or even item names, IIRC. I suspect that the best approach might be to simply unequip all items before entering the shop. But man, what a pain.

I also wish the shop would tell you what item slot each item goes in. For example, in the real world–and in most RPGs–one can wear both boots and greaves. In fact, I think it’s pretty uncommon to wear greaves and go barefoot. But that’s what you have to do in Elemental, where greaves take up the same slot as boots. I bought fancy greaves for my whole party, only to realize that I couldn’t use any of them without replacing the Travelers’ boots that I had equipped on everyone. So I ended up selling them all back (at half price… ugh). It’s not like I could have even known beforehand–the game doesn’t show you a paper doll with empty slots or anything. You just have to buy the item and hope that it doesn’t conflict with something you already have, I guess.

I did the same thing Ben.

Hmm, worryingly the closest city to me has been at Level 1 the entire time. It doesn’t seem to have been developed at all.

…happened to me. I foolishly sent my peasant militia after a spider. They died, horribly. I then doubly foolishly sent my hero, the tutorial dude, and some “master farmer” guy to fight the spider. They died too. Rather, my hero miraculously survived or was resurrected or something so I could continue on. But the other dude died.

I’m posting in the busiest thread on the busiest forum. What qualifies as something better to do on here? I like to make fun of games.

OK. Attacked with my uber-stack. Deneghra’s mass lightning nuked pretty everyone except some spider type dude who took a lot of arrows before falling over. I captured the city. One square away is their king, who I killed next turn.

That’s it - their civilisation is dead.

Um… that’s pathetic. That’s a couple of hundred turns and they literally did nothing. Didn’t even build a single improvement to the city.

I’ve progressively gone from “interested”, to “excited”, to “omg must buy”, to “where the fuck is my replacement credit card i need to pre-order this shit”, to “kill it with fire.”

Thanks, all who bit the bullet. I owe you a beer.

What difficulty are you playing? I started with easy but immediately ramped it up, way up, because I kept having those same types of cities showing up. Also, this game (like GalCivII) has minor races, so you might have wiped one of them out… but even the minor races in GalCivII could turtle like bastards.

Happened to me, too. I didn’t realize that getting that guy killed meant no more help tips. I don’t think I’m going to go back at this point–it happened in one of the first fights. Sort of sucks, though.

Yep. It’s so incredibly discouraging to me that Elemental went through such an extensive beta process and still makes errors as basic as this. There are at least a dozen of these kinds of problems with the game in its current state. :(

At some point when the only person you’re amusing is yourself this crosses into a form of sociopathy.

Everyone knows why you’re in this thread. I’m not sure why you think I somehow don’t get it. So can you do me the favor of not insulting my intelligence with this sort of disingenuous bullshit?

I’ve been playing it for a while now, and after completing the campaign, I decided to start a real game. I’ve enjoyed myself so far, but there’s a bunch of stuff I don’t quite understand, and the manual really isn’t much help.

For instance, my capital city has a lot of resources around it. I started out by building a gold mine and a farm, both of which were right next to the city. As the city grew and my borders expanded, I built one more gold mine, a lost library and an apiary, none of which were adjacent to the city itself, but within the borders.

Now, 50 turns later, I’ve realised that none of the improvements that aren’t adjacent to the city show up in the city screen, nor do are they being factored into the city’s production, as far as I can tell. I’ve tried expanding the city, by building a bunch of huts, in order to get the improvements into the city proper, but it doesn’t seem to work.

I’m probably doing something wrong, but neither the manual, nor the Hiergablob have been any help at all.

There’s a bunch of other stuff I can’t find the answer to anywhere: What’s the number after the crown symbol, in the battle breakdown screen? Where can I see how much experience a hero has, and how much he/she needs for the next level? Where can I see a research point breakdown of my kingdom? Am I supposed to be able to recruit adventurers, and if so, why can’t I do that (I’m talking about the ones that are called creature-adventurer, or somesuch)? What exactly do caravans do? And so on.

I’m enjoying myself so far, I haven’t had a lot of crashes, and I don’t think I’ve seen a lot of bugs either, but there’s a definitely a lack of documentation, and it’s beginning to frustrate me a little bit. Hopefully there’ll be a wiki or something like that soon.

I’m on normal.
