I’m going to add this here in hopes the Stardock people see it, even though this thread has really gone long past documenting particular game problems.

Possibly these have already been mentioned, so I will be brief, though I have certainly not read about this first one:

I do not believe the magic multipliers are working. For instance, if my mage is supposed to be able to strike with three times base damage, it still looks as if only base damage is being used. I’m pretty sure this is so, because I’ve tested it against low defense characters and have never seen a number higher than base damage would account for.

This one is well known, but seemed kind of funny:

My eldest son matured, but did not appear. Then his portrait turned back into a baby – a 20 year old baby! I was able to marry him off and got his bride in my faction, but he never did appear, even though he eventually got a different portrait. I have read that this may happen with a crash or reload and that’s probably what happened, but the 20 year old baby getting married had me laughing.

That is all, carry on.

Yes, I’m not sure how their sales staff is busy fixing the game, but whatever. I don’t like having to send them yet another email asking for some response as to why I can’t get my money back when others have and it’s their official policy, but I’m not sure what else I can do.

If you sent an e-mail, it will be taken care of. Repeatedly e-mailing resets your ticket so please be patient and it will be addressed.

They’re nuking criticism threads on their boards now. :shame:

There are plenty of critical threads on the Elemental forums, the ones being nuked are threads that don’t lend any help in identifying issues. A post was made saying stating that is how we will be moderating the forums. Our focus is looking at constructive feedback and bugs, so they can be addressed asap.

I’m going to add this here in hopes the Stardock people see it, even though this thread has really gone long past documenting particular game problems.

Noted. :)

Well, thank God for that. This was one of my huge issues with the game.

That’s a cheap shot at Tom, isn’t it.

“FUCK YOU! We’re putting 'em in and you CAN’T STOP US.”

Considering that Civ 5 will be the first one released with a hex grid, I’d bet that they had to start from scratch with their map maker. Also, most of those 19 years was with 2d sprites fitting them together like puzzle pieces which is relatively easy compared to 3d with impassable terrain.

I don’t know if you intentionally stated the “100 hours” in the worst way possible, but the original quote said that they had random maps working at one point in time, but just need to tweak it. I’d imagine all the fun and exciting coding bits are all done (and took much longer than 100 hours) and all that is left is tweaking things and then creating 1000’s of maps to see if it breaks, tweaking again, then creating 1000’s of maps, rinse and repeat for two weeks.

Oh… you make it sound better. Great.
I trought was a unimplemented feature. You makes it sound like one that just need finne tunning (but thats still a lot of work).

He didn’t say “definately”, so it’s all good.

Hah, not at all, I was just comparing it to other game company forum.

I do not understand how any objective person could give this game a 9 on a 10 point scale. Or a 9 on a 7-9 scale.

Reading the review, http://www.neoseeker.com/Articles/Games/Reviews/elemental_war_of_magic/ …the guy likes the campaign and thinks the tactical combat is great. He finds the game ‘accessible’ and there is no mention of the poor UI or complete lack of accurate documentation.

The only thing the reviewer was critical of at all, in the entire review, was the lack of voice-overs and cinematics during the campaign.

Reviewers should review the latest version patch that is available at the time of writing. A review is supposed to be a buyers guide, not A Reckoning Whereby Shoddy Gold Releases Shall Be Brought Low.

Besides, both Tom and Kieron made it clear they thought the version they played was shoddy. If they thought the version they played was awesome, but an earlier version was terrible, then that would be worth mentioning in the review. But since they made it clear they thought the current version is shoddy, I can’t see how it adds value to say “oh and by the way the version from a couple of days ago was a bit worse”.

Tony

Hey, just a note to mention that even with everything not running completely smoothly, I am enjoying my game.

And I’m still on 1.05 until I kill those last two opponents…:)

Keep your head up.

You would have lost that bet.

There’s a lot of wine snobs on here which is ironic because you can’t ask for a refund for an uncorked and drunk-from bottle.

If I had to guess, maybe they think you could have “fixed” the combat with a mod to suit your needs as with Civilization IV and thus you aren’t giving them a fair shake.

Christ. Give it a rest asshole.

Be fair and quote every post in this thread when you make this statement, fuckface.

That would be… a lot of posts to quote.

Gentlemen, gentlemen, let’s not let this thread degrade any further, please. :)

Can I get a refund on an uncorked bottle of Octonoo? It’s really bad whine.
