The only ones that will see this “fantastic great game” will be the ones that actively decide to stick around. Most will move onto the next shiny thing.

Which is worse, shipping a game that is deeply flawed and patched to mediocrity or waiting a couple months to release a complete game and maybe getting lost in the Civ release?

I would say the first. Elemental had a fair amount of hype, hope and interest going in. A couple months would not change that. Having two good games out at the same time is not something gamers complain about, regardless of who came out first. Elemental could have benefited by having Civ 5 as a lead in.

A botched release is hard to overcome and the ill-will from this may not be something Stardock ever recovers from. Their recent track record seems to prove that they are willing to ship out half baked games. Which is a shame as I do like Stardock… but trusting them? Not so much.

I have not bought the game. As I previously stated I am unwilling to lay down 50 bucks for a game that has promise. If I wanted a beta, I would have pre-ordered for the privilege to do that. When a game goes gold it should be playable on day one, not day 3, 7 or 10.

In a couple months I will likely buy Elemental, I want to love this game but it is clear that right now it is incapable of loving me. Yet, who could blame any gamer for pushing this mess aside and not come back to it?

This is the “all-purpose” thread. So it fits here quite nicely. People should be aware of how Elemental customers are treated, not only by the game, but by the development studio as well.

Also, I didn’t want Qt3 posters feeling too special thinking Brad only nerd-rages you here (in this very thread). He nerd-rages his own paying customers, who paid for his “special car” and the vacation he’s on right now, in his own forums. ;)

Just received an email from SD that they will only issue a 75% refund unless I work with tech support regarding any problems I have first. I looked at their return policy and that’s what it says. Has that always been the case or have they just changed their policy because of Elemental?
