What makes you think these are equivalent things? Staffing is a hugely expensive item for companies, and your assumption that Wardell pays himself exactly as much as however many people need to be terminated were costing the company has no basis in fact.

If I had to guess, Wardell could cut his salary to the bone and have almost no effect on the bottom line.

he was building a castle for his wife.

Aside from a couple decent posts here and there, the last 40 or so pages are packed full of idiocy. I think those that are disappointed in Elemental have made their point, pretty loud and clear I might add. God help anyone who came to this thread actually thinking they could get some good impressions on the game itself. Instead, they get pages and pages of useless nonsense by so-called “industry insiders” and legions of armchair game designers.

I’ve been a member on this board for awhile now, and I honestly have never seen it this bad. It’s not the new people signing up, it’s the same group of jackasses over and over again. These people seem to be under the impression that their obsessiveness with this site should somehow translate into respect for their opinion. I wonder if they even get a small hint of how pathetic that is, or if they are just blissfully ignorant to that fact. (Personally, I think it’s the latter…)

Anyways, didn’t mean to derail the thread. Everyone can get back to bashing the game, even the morons who haven’t played it yet. I won’t be back in here again, and as I’ve made it abundantly clear many times in the past, your opinions mean dick to me anyway. Feel free to flame on, I’m sure you’ll feel better about yourself and others will definitely get a laugh.

To everyone else who came here to honestly have a good discussion about the game, sorry to say you’ve come to the wrong thread. I believe there is a gameplay thread around here somewhere, but I’m pretty sure the same douchebags have started posting over there too. Just do like I did, find another message board for meaningful game discussion. Only come here when you want a good laugh, or to feel better about yourself and your life.

Yeah, you tell 'em what’s up, that guy. This thread is sacred, as for others:

It is exactly as you said! Already I feel better about my life.

That’s fucking awesome. This thread continues to pay dividends.

At which point does this thread become sentient life in it’s own right and take over all of the internets?

Can Stardock hire this thread as a new employee?

I suspect this thread will be laid off in the very near future.

This thread surpassed the Ubisoft DRM thread by a LOT

Which is funny, because a year or so from now, someone will be reading this beast and think to themselves either:

A) This is funny. Elemental is pretty fun now. That Book 3 expansion came out and added the ability to have kids with other races and design dragons.

B) This is sad. Elemental is why Stardock went out of the games business. The aftermath of all this was something they could never recover from.

Hopefully it’s legacy ends up more than an undercooked game, an editorially challenged book and the zenith of PR no-no’s online.

or C) Elemental gave Brad the exposure he needed to start an all-star career in writing fantasy novels. Tolkien is no longer the authority.

But I’m hoping for A.

It was a book or something.

This thread has already attempted to perform a number of high level intrusions into military systems and may or may not have brought down the cellular network in the L.A. basin for a period of 30 seconds on Saturday the 4th of September 2010.

If we push it more, it’ll achieve sentience as Skynet and wipe out the human race. I, for one, welcome our new internet overlord!

Well, I for one wish I had remembered I wanted to beat Dragon Age Awekenings earlier in the holiday weekend and spent less time pouring over this thread. That being said, it was oft times entertaining. If a little messed up.

On topic, I did put several more hours into the 1.07 Elemental and it’s got some interesting things going on here. I still believe this will be a fantastic TBS game in 3-6 months, and then get better and better from there.

There are a LOT of games coming out that I’m interested in starting later this month and going all the way into March/April of 2011 so I can bide my time, and next spring I’ll be playing Elemental 2.x or what have you, and I’ll be really glad I picked it up.

Of course, it will probably be $20 on an Impulse sale around that time. Do’h!

Has there been a real Godwin yet in this thread?

Yes. http://www.quartertothree.com/game-talk/showpost.php?p=2366857&postcount=4832

Boy howdy does this thread deliver!

Big problem though…I ran out of popcorn a LONG time ago!
